Fantasy Football NFL Week 2 Target Report: Rams Targets Without Puka Nacua
Week 1 is in the books, ladies and gentleman. We laughed, we cried, we cried some more about virtually every tight end besides Isaiah Likely. And now, we need to update our fantasy football rankings and prepare to move forward. And that starts with our NFL fantasy football Week 2 target report and updated target totem pole.
This target report has been huge for us in fantasy football. Historically we just utilized it pre-draft but, this year, we’re going to lean into it all year long. What we’re going to do is monitor usage trends like snaps and routes run, alignment data, and, of course, target share to figure out who could be the studs in fantasy football and who could be the breakouts. And we are going to do that right here in the NFL fantasy football Week 2 target report.
2024 Fantasy Football NFL Week 2 Target Report Preview
Why do we do this? Well, historically incredibly rare for a team to have three players all get 100+ targets. It’s happened only once over the last three years and less than 3% of the time over the last five years. More teams will have ZERO players get 100+ targets than have three. And, last year, every top 24 WR except one got 100+ targets (and that was Deebo Samuel who scored 5 rushing touchdowns.
That’s why the NFL fantasy football Week 2 target report is so important. In the chart below you will see our PROJECTION for what we believe will happen. That projection is a mix of what we are seeing on the field, who is actually healthy, and what we predict for the rest of the season.
Naturally, that is going to change from week to week and it’s important to check the notes section at the bottom as to why. Our 2024 NFL fantasy football Week 2 target report has a note for every single team. So, let’s take a look!

Fantasy Football Week 2 Target Report Advice & Takeaways
NOTE: If a team moved from where they were in the Week 1 NFL target report, they will be denoted with ***
Clear Top Two
Arizona Cardinals
- Trey McBride
- Marvin Harrison Jr
- The usage for Trey McBride and Marvin Harrison Jr was great with both running virtually every route but only McBride was targeted at an elite level. Greg Dortch got a lot of looks but only played 61% of the snaps which does not warrant an overreaction. We’ll chalk the first game for Marvin up to first game jitters but there have been some concerning statistics emerging on Kyler Murray on throws over 10+ yards. He was 0-7 on them this week.
Chicago Bears***
- DJ Moore
- Keenan Allen
- This one cleared itself up pretty quickly as Rome Odunze is now week to week with an MCL sprain. As we warned, the tight ends rotated with Gerald Everett running 21 routes and Cole Kmet running 12. That’s out of 35 so neither is meaningful.
Cincinnati Bengals
- Ja'Marr Chase
- Tee Higgins
- We expect this to be business as usual when Tee Higgins returns. Until then, Andrei Iosivas could be worth some spot starts for you. We’ll chalk up the Week 1 loss to a lack of practice time together.
Dallas Cowboys***
- CeeDee Lamb
- Brandin Cooks
- The target leaders were clearly CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks, and Jake Ferguson. But Ferg left with a sprained MCL leaving Lamb and Cooks at the top. Take advantage of it while you can.
Kansas City Chiefs***
- Travis Kelce
- Rashee Rice
- Xavier Worthy looked good, but he did so on a 63% snap share with only 3 targets. He or Hollywood Brown might force the issue, but we moved the Chiefs up here after Rashee Rice was a clear focal point. He was last year as well.
Miami Dolphins
- Tyreek Hill
- Jaylen Waddle
- If this keeps going this way, we might have to move this to “highly consolidated” and add De’Vone Achane to the mix. He did run 10 routes from the slot which is rare for RBs - the last time an RB ran 100+ routes from the slot was Tarik Cohen in 2019.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- Chris Godwin
- Mike Evans
- Let the good times roll! Jalen McMillan looked okay; Cade Otton was on the backburner. But it’s clearly Mike Evans and Chris Godwin at the top.
High Consolidation
Atlanta Falcons
- Drake London
- Kyle Pitts
- Bijan Robinson
- The Falcons only played 56 snaps in a strange game script. Ray-Ray McCloud led in targets but he only played a 56% snap share. Drake London, Kyle Pitts, Darnell Mooney, and Bijan Robinson played virtually the whole game. We still believe in Pitts, London, and Bijan but Kirk Cousins looked like a statue out there so it’s all on him.
Baltimore Ravens***
- Zay Flowers
- Mark Andrews
- Isaiah Likely
- This one had to be moved down from “clear top two” as it was clearly NOT just Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews at the top. We aren’t going to completely overreact as Andrews played more snaps, ran more routes, and did so more often from a WR spot than Isaiah Likely. But this might be a three man show now. And, if Mark Andrews continues to look sluggish, maybe it will even be a two man show - without him in it. We believe in Andrews but the seasons following Tightrope ankle surgery that we have seen have not been great so far.
Detroit Lions***
- Amon Ra St. Brown
- Sam LaPorta
- Jameson Williams
- Jahmyr Gibbs
- This one moves from “clear top two” to “high consolidation” with Jameson Williams coming out and playing the whole game while leading in targets. It might not just be a two man show anymore which could cap some upsides.
Houston Texans***
- Nico Collins
- Stefon Diggs
- Tank Dell
- This was under “too many mouths to feed?” last week but, as long as Dalton Schultz and Joe Mixon remain on the backburner in terms of targets, we might be alright. C.J. Stroud looked good and the Texans completely abandoned the fullback so they went heavy three WR sets. Someone probably won’t get 100+ targets due to injury etc. but right now they are all on pace to.
New Orlean Saints***
- Chris Olave
- Rashid Shaheed
- Alvin Kamara
- This is good, this is what we wanted to see. This offense is using a lot of fullback just like Miami and San Francisco. That takes the WR3 out and consolidates the snaps and targets at the top. Good news for the three top dogs.
Philadelphia Eagles
- AJ Brown
- DeVonta Smith
- Dallas Goedert
- The best thing for fantasy is a team where you know exactly what they are going to do and then they do it and do it well. That’s the Eagles.
San Francisco 49ers
- Brandon Aiyuk
- Deebo Samuel
- George Kittle
- Christian McCaffrey
- If you just replace the name Christian McCaffrey with Jordan Mason, this was pretty much business as usual.
One Stud, Then Uncertainty
Denver Broncos
- Courtland Sutton
- Sutton solidified himself at the top with 11 targets. Josh Reynolds and DeVaughn Vele each got 8 which is certainly interesting. Reynolds played 55 snaps to 34 for Vele so he remains ahead but we’ll monitor the situation. We’re still rooting for Greg Dulcich who had decent deployment but did not get many looks.
Cleveland Browns
- Amari Cooper
- Amari Cooper is still obviously the top dog here but, with the injury to David Njoku., Jerry Jeudy has a chance to make this a “clear top two” situation. It would help if he would catch some passes, but Elijah Moore didn’t help himself either as he was just as inefficient as ever.
Indianapolis Colts
- Michael Pittman
- Despite the big game (or big play really) from Alec Pierce and decent targets for Adonai Mitchell, this one remains here. Josh Downs will return soon to throw a wrench into it. Pittman remains safely at the top, however.
Los Angeles Rams
- Cooper Kupp
- We have to move this one down as Puka Nacua was placed in IR where he will miss four weeks minimum. He could still get 100 targets - he’s that good. But that’s a huge chunk of the fantasy football regular season. Demarcus Robinson, Tyler Johnson, and Colby Parkinson will battle for targets behind Kupp. We like Robinson if you need to start someone right now though it would be fun to see Jordan Whittington play more as a dart throw. I’ve seen enough Tyler Johnson for four years to not be super excited there. Colby Parkinson is a “safe but boring” play for the short term if you need someone.
Minnesota Vikings
- Justin Jefferson
- With T.J. Hockenson on IR and now Jordan Addison nicked up, we’re just going to leave this one here for now. Sam Darnold did look pretty good, but they didn’t need to throw much vs. the Giants.
New York Giants
- Malik Nabers
- Wan’Dale Robinson got a ton of targets, but he was not a full-time player - he came out for two WR sets. So, this team remains here for now. But he and Theo Johnson are players to potentially stash.
New York Jets
- Garrett Wilson
- We are tempted to add Breece Hall and more of this team up to the top. Allen Lazard and Mike Williams will probably cancel each other out but Lazard did get 9 targets in typical Aaron Rodgers fashion. Even in a tough loss, you have to be happy with Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall.
Las Vegas Raiders
- Davante Adams
- Boy, how nice would it be if Jakobi Meyers just went away so that Davante Adams and Brock Bowers could be peppered with targets? That would be great. But, he’s still there and he actually led with 61 yards. Alexander Mattison was the surprise pass-catching back as well with six targets.
Pittsburgh Steelers
- George Pickens
- This will remain here though we’re quietly pleased with the usage for Pat Freiermuth. He ran over 80% of his routes from a WR spot. We need Russell Wilson at QB to do a better job of distributing the ball.
Tennessee Titans***
- Calvin Ridley
- DeAndre Hopkins is clearly not healthy. So Tyler Boyd played a bigger role and Hopkins played a partial snap share. If Hop were ruled OUT it would be easier to trust Boyd. We don’t really know when Hopkins will be back to being a full-time guy but, at that point, maybe this team is more consolidated.
Washington Commanders
- Terry McLaurin
- Zach Ertz just doesn’t seem to go away. If you are desperate in a full PPR, maybe give him a look. Otherwise, McLaurin is the one guy we can utilize here and then it’s a bunch of spreading the ball around.
Too Many Mouths To Feed?
Green Bay Packers
- Christian Watson
- Romeo Doubs
- Jayden Reed
- Dontayvion Wicks
- Josh Jacobs
- Tucker Kraft
- Luke Musgrave
- Emmanuel Wilson
- Six different players got at least 3 targets and no one got more than 6. And then Jordan Love got hurt. Romeo Doubs led in snaps and routes (37) while Jayden Reed (32) and Christian Watson (31) weren’t far behind. Without Love, it’s hard to trust anyone right now.
Seattle Seahawks
- DK Metcalf
- Tyler Lockett
- Jaxon Smith-Njigba
- Noah Fant
- Kenneth Walker
- We talked about this last week - the Ryan Grubbs era is here which means more 11 personnel. So, any given week it could be Lockett, Metcalf, JSN, Fant, or Walker. This week it was Lockett and Walker.
Wide Open
This one will remain squarely here following Week 1. Keon Coleman and Dalton Kincaid clearly led in snaps which is great, but Kincaid was hardly involved target-wise. Out of 61 snaps, Mack Hollins (36), Dawson Knox (35), Khalil Shakir (33), and Curtis Samuel (17) all rotated which further muddies the waters. Hopefully that eventually leads to a consolidation at the top for Coleman (45) and Kincaid (51).
Panthers are moving down here for now as the rotation was strange - no WR played more than 70% of the snaps. All of Adam Thielen, Diontae Johnson, Xavier Leggette, and Jonathan Mingo played between 55 and 70 percent. We still like Diontae Johnson best but it's hard to trust that with this QB.
This one remains wide open and, honestly, might just end up under “too many mouths to feed”. The target leaders were Evan Engram (4), Brian Thomas Jr (4), Christian Kirk (4), Gabe Davis (3), Travis Etienne (3). Yeesh.
I don’t know what to make of this team this week. They somehow won, which is nuts. Out of 64 possible snaps, only Hunter Henry played more than 40 with 54 total. He led in routes run, too. KJ Osborn was next with 39 snaps but only ran 14 routes. Demario Douglas, Tyquan Thornton, and Ja’Lynn Polk rotated running between 18-22 routes. Very strange. Henry and Polk are our favorites to stash.
We’re going to leave this here for now, but it was certainly a promising start for the lad they call Ladd. Joshua Palmer led in routes run with 28 of 30 with Quintin Johnston (25), Hayden Hurst (24), and Ladd McConkey (23) next. Let’s get Ladd some more snaps. And don’t sleep on Hayden Hurst just yet - he ran over 80% of his routes from a WR spot.
