2024 Player Outlook
Puka Nacua not only had the best season a fifth-round rookie has ever had but he just set the record for receiving yards by rookie with 1,486. Yes, more yards than Bill Groman (1,473), Ja'Marr Chase (1,455), and Justin Jefferson (1,400). That has earned him first round draft capital in early 2024 drafts as folks wonder whether he can improve or repeat on that season. Defenses will surely be keying in on Nacua more this year but it will once again be Nacua, Cooper Kupp and Demarcus Robinson as the top weapons for Matthew Stafford so the same opportunity will be there for him this year.

Puka Nacua said he wants to retire at age 30.
Nacua said on a recent podcast appearance that he might call it quits after another six or seven seasons in the NFL. “I’m 23 right now, I’m going into year three – it wouldn’t even be 10 years. It’d be maybe seven or eight,” said Nacua, who has had one of the most productive starts a career in NFL history. “I think of Aaron Donald, to go out at the top, I think it would be super cool. But also, I want to have a big family.” Nacua said he wants to avoid a long career full of injuries that could wear on him into his 30s after during his post-NFL life. “By the time my kids could be 18, I could be barely walking if you play the game and sustain all the injuries and stuff like that, but I want to retire early,” he said. Nacua since entering the league in 2023 has sustained injuries to his foot, both ankles, knee, chest, hamstring, shoulder, and brain. His playing style might not be conducive to a lengthy career.
Puka Nacua caught 6-of-14 targets for 97 yards in the Rams’ Divisional Round loss to the Eagles.
Nacua’s 79-990-3 line from this season looks like a decline from his 2023 campaign. Then, you remember he played in just 11-of-17 games and averaged more receptions per game (7.2) and receiving yards per game (90.0) than he did as a rookie and that he was on pace for a 1,500-yard season. Knee injuries followed Nacua for much of the year. A bursted bursa sac in his right knee in training camp led to Nacua missing most of camp. Then, in Week 1, Nacua suffered a sprained PCL and immediately landed on injured reserve, which resulted in him missing five games. Nacua’s 30 percent target share on the season tied him with Justin Jefferson for the second-highest target share in the league among receivers. His fantasy impact in 2025 could be somewhat affected by what Matthew Stafford decides to do in the offseason, but as long as Sean McVay return to coach another year, the targets should continue to be there for Nacua, who will profile as a WR1 barring any major changes.
Puka Nacua caught 5-of-9 targets for 44 yards in the Rams’ Wildcard win over the Vikings, adding seven yards on his lone carry.
For all intents and purposes, Nacua and Stafford were not really on the same page in the blowout win, but a dominant performance by their defense, which included nine sacks and a strip sack fumble recovery for a touchdown in the second quarter led to only 51 offensive plays run from scrimmage. Nacua appeared to bang knees with a defender in the third quarter and he was seen limping to the sideline, but he would return on the same possession and finish the game for the Rams. The win sends the Rams to a road Divisional Round clash with the Eagles next weekend.
Sean McVay said Puka Nacua, Cooper Kupp, and Kyren Williams will not play in Week 18 against the Seahawks.
No surprises here as McVay already told reporters earlier in the week that Matthew Stafford will get the week off as well. The Rams have already locked up the NFC West, giving them almost nothing to play for on Sunday. Offensive linemen Alaric Jackson, Kevin Dotson, and Rob Havenstein are also getting rest days. Jimmy Garoppolo will start at quarterback. McVay mentioned an increase in touches for rookie running back Blake Corum as well.
