Jaguars coach Liam Coen said CB Montaric Brown (knee) will miss the rest of training camp.

Jarrian Jones had been facing a challenge from Brown, who has more experience in new DC Anthony Campanile’s preferred zone coverage schemes. Instead, it looks like Brown will be questionable for the start of the season with this injury and Jones will have more runway to play when (if?) Travis Hunter is off the field on defense.

Sports Illustrated’s John Shipley writes, “if there was one running back who stood out throughout the practice, it was Tank Bigsby.”

Shipley notes that Bigsby typically stands out during padded practices “due to his physical nature, but he certainly looked the part in Friday’s helmets and shorts practice, with the Jaguars’ coaching staff frequently singing his praises.” Both Bigsby and Etienne “made several nice runs,” but “Bigsby seemingly got the bulk of the key reps” and maintained high-level play all day. Bigsby has a chance to seize the lead rushing role if he continues to play well.

Jaguars head coach Liam Coen said the team will give Travis Hunter “an opportunity to go flip-flop within the same practice” between offense and defense in training camp.

Much has been rumored about Hunter’s usage on offense and defense throughout the offseason. He spent most of OTAs and minicamp on the offensive side to learn the playbook, but did also spend some time on defense. Now, Coen says the team will “give him a couple days offense, a couple days defense, and then give him an opportunity to go flip-flop within the same practice.” The Jaguars have mapped out Hunter’s practice time to bring him along both sides of the ball. There are still unknowns on how much time he will spend on either side of the ball when the season actually starts, but for now Hunter is a solid FLEX option for fantasy purposes.

NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe said the Jaguars think Travis Hunter “can impact the game a little bit more as a wide receiver” than he can as a cornerback.

Wolfe also critically said that “there is a belief” that Hunter will play both offense and defense in Week 1. The team views Hunter as a “more natural cornerback,” so they intend to “catch him up on receiver reps” in training camp. Hunter is best viewed as a high-upside flex option at this time, given the unknowns regarding his snap counts.
