2024 Player Outlook
The Colts selected Adonai Mitchell with the 53rd pick of the 2024 NFL Draft who has an oddly similarly profile to the player he looks to replace, Alec Pierce, who they drafted with the 52nd pick of the 2022 Draft. Both have an impressive athletic profile in terms of height, weight, and speed. And neither had mind-blowing numbers in college. With Michael Pierce on the outside on one side and Josh Downs in the slot, it's Mitchell vs. Pierce in 2024 to see who will be the outside wide receiver in this Colts offense. After Pierce led the league in routes run in 2024 while finishing as the WR73 in PPR, we are begging for it to be Mitchell.

Colts signed WR Adonai Mitchell to a four-year contract.
The Athletic’s James Boyd reports WR Adonai Mitchell “continues to flash his potential” during Colts OTAs.
Mitchell has made consistent acrobatic downfield grabs in 7-on-7 drills during OTAs, catching the attention of beat writers and Colts coaches alike. Boyd said on Thursday, Anthony Richardson “launched a deep ball down the sideline to Mitchell, who, after beating cornerback Darrell Baker contorted his body to make an over-the-shoulder grab that drew a roar of approval from the offense. That highlight-reel play explains why the Colts were willing to take a swing on Mitchell despite just one year of big-time production from him in college.” Mitchell, the 52nd overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, posted an explosive 55/845/11 line in his final collegiate season (his only one at Texas). Mitchell should function as a pure downfield threat for the big-armed Richardson in 2024.
Colts selected Texas WR Adonai Mitchell with the No. 52 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Mitchell saw his stock slide in the loaded wideout class of 2024, but maybe finds a better landing spot in the process. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound receiver began his collegiate career with a promising season at Georgia, tallying 426 yards and four scores on 29 grabs en route to a National Championship victory. Though he would nab another ring in his second season, Mitchell’s sophomore campaign didn’t amount to much in the box scores as he missed most of the year with an ankle injury and then transferred to Texas. In his first and only season as a Longhorn, the explosive receiver broke out with a 55/845/11 receiving line. Mitchell leveraged his massive catch radius to consistently reel in off-frame throws from Quinn Ewers, often saving his quarterback from himself. On the other hand, his effort wasn’t always there as he disappeared in some games and didn’t seem particularly interested in run-blocking. There’s a path for immediate playing time for Mitchell, and he should see plenty of work in three-wideout sets for the Colts to begin 2024.
