There’s no denying it: Zero RB and Hero RB have entered the mainstream fantasy community.

The spread of these fantasy football draft strategies has led to the top wide receivers being drafted earlier than ever. Given everything we know about the running back landscape, split backfields and fragility, it's not necessarily a bad idea.

But there are still some misconceptions out there about how you should be ranking and drafting wide receivers in 2024– even in Zero RB when you start your draft with a bunch of them. (I blame best ball fantasy football!)

The popularity of best ball has taught folks a bad habit – that you can just draft seven straight wide receivers off some list, and you’ll be all set. The algorithm will take care of the rest.

But that’s not how it works in all other fantasy football leagues. You need to actually set your lineup. You need BALANCE. You need a plan. And, quite frankly, old-fashioned, linear fantasy football WR rankings aren't doing enough to help with that.

How do we compare a safer veteran pick like Christian Kirk to an unknown rookie like Xavier Worthy? How do you rank Rashee Rice, who could be suspended, on a list with Keenan Allen? If you are in a two-WR league vs. a three-WR league vs. a league with many flexes, shouldn’t your approach change?

We’ve asked ourselves these questions and we’ve devised an upgraded form of fantasy WR rankings to help with just that. Here’s how they work.

Fantasy WR Rankings: Top 24 WRs For 2024

There are a lot of different formats. But virtually every one I plan in has at least two starting WR spots. Some obviously have three or even more, but the majority have at least two. So, that’s where we start.

These are our best picks to be the top fantasy wide receivers in 2024. The players that you should be able to put in your lineup and leave there. Simple as that.

2024 Fantasy WR Rankings: WR Three

The “wide receiver three” territory is big for us. And we’ve split them into two different types for you to build your team with some semblance of balance. One side has the “safer” guys that might not have the highest ceiling. And the other has the higher risk, higher reward guys. The floor might not be great, but the ceiling is high.

Let’s say, hypothetically, you are in a two-WR league. And you happen to get three WRs from the top 24. If that’s the case, you may not need many “safe” guys. Maybe one more, for bye weeks or injuries. But those guys might never crack your lineup. So, you want to go for UPSIDE with those bench spots.

Let’s say on the other hand, you are in a deep league, like the Scott Fish Bowl, where you start 11 players. If you only draft high risk, high reward players like rookies, you might not have anyone realistic to start. In a format like that or one with three WRs and two flexes, you need as many viable players as possible. So, you might want to lean hard into some safe players and THEN focus on upside.

Obviously, upside is what wins you the playoffs and championships in many cases. But fielding a lineup is what gets you there. Don’t draft only boring guys, don’t draft only hype guys. Give yourself the best chance of winning with balance.

2024 Fantasy WRs: Upside Stashes

This section is reserved for players who are unlikely to be playing to start the season, for whatever reason. Injured players, suspended players, free agents. As of early July, there is only one player in this section. Unfortunately, more will be moved here as the summer progresses. They always are.

2024 Fantasy WR Rankings: The Rest

This one is self-explanatory. There are some deep leagues out there. New formats are invented all the time. I’ve seen leagues with 32 teams, even. We do our best to provide rankings for those crazy folks. And guys come from this section to have breakout seasons all the time. A rookie named Tank Dell was towards the top of this section last year, for instance.

Now that you know how the Dynamic Tiers are structured for the 2024 Fantasy Football WR Rankings, let's look at which players are ranked in each group.
