Fantasy Baseball 2024 Two-Start Pitchers & Streaming Starters - Week 24
Heading into the second full week of September action, there is a wealth of Fantasy Baseball 2024 Two-Start Pitchers and Fantasy Baseball 2024 Streaming Starters to consider adding to your fantasy baseball rosters for Week 24’s activity. There are not so many dual-start arms to avoid this week, which is a welcome change.
There is a nice group of options profiled in the second portion of this article in the form of Fantasy Baseball 2024 Streaming Starters that are owned in less than half of leagues and thus can possibly be plugged into your rotations as the fantasy season winds down and you compete for your championship(s).
Please realize that these articles feature most recent rotation information available when the article is written, but that circumstances do change due to weather conditions, injuries and general craziness with managers. If a pitcher listed here as having two starts ends up with one (or perhaps none) in the upcoming week, apologies but this article is meant to provide analysis, it is up to the manager to set the lineups or rotations.
Without further ado, here are this week’s two-start pitchers:

These 13 SPs are the cream of the crop among the Fantasy Baseball 2024 Two-Start Pitchers that may inhabit your rosters. If so, plug them into the rotation and reap the benefits they are likely but never guaranteed to provide. It will be interesting to see how Yamamoto fares in his return from injury, as he was limited during his rehab starts, but the fact that the Dodgers are comfortably reinserting him into their starting rotation makes him worthy of top-tier residency…for the present time.

Martinez picked up his first victory since August 5th, by limiting the visiting Astros to just a single earned run (four runs were tallied while he was on the bump). He collected seven Ks, and his ERA sits at a useful 3.67 over his 115.1 IP on the season, along with an attractive 1.15 WHIP. He had struggled over his prior four trips to the hill, but now gets two road starts, to potentially build on his road warrior numbers this year.
Louder joins the Fantasy Baseball 2024 Two-Start Pitchers, alongside his Cincy teammate profiled above, and will look to continue to find success on the mound in his rookie campaign. He has allowed just one earned tally in his limited two starts for Cincy, and his control could be an issue, as he has handed out four free passes in each of those times toeing the rubber. He will look to keep baffling opposing batters, but beware as his peripheral metrics indicate his superior ratio stats are likely due to regress at some point.
Oller offers strikeout production but has been erratic on the hill in his limited four appearances thus far this season, either being stingy or generous to opposing offenses, allowing nine runs over two starts, while limiting the opponents to a single earned tally in the other two appearances. He does have a couple of decent matchups lined up on the schedule, but you are likely employing his services in this dual start week for the Ks.
Houck had pitched six or more innings for five consecutive starts, before the Mets chased him after 5.0 IP in his most recent start, a loss. He has been offering his owners good K production (8.0 K/9 over 169.2 IP to date) and good control (2.5 BB/9) which has translated into useful ratio stats on the season: 3.24 ERA, 1.17 WHIP through his 28 starts. He has proven himself to have value this scoring period as a Fantasy Baseball 2024 Two-Start Pitcher, although this week’s matchups against two division rivals competing for the AL East title are not the most favorable imaginable.
Bibee has acquitted himself quite nicely since mid-July, producing an admirable 3.07 ERA and 1.11 WHIP over those 44.0 IP, with a 39:11 K/BB ratio. He has a road start to open the scoring period, but it is against the struggling White Sox, and then he gets a home start to wrap up the scoring period against the less-than-formidable Tampa Bay offense. This is a good week to rely upon the second-year righty as one of your Fantasy Baseball 2024 Two-Start Pitchers.
Singer has a pair of road starts on the schedule for Week 24, and while he has not been as effective away from KC this season, the away starts are not a valid reason to avoid using him in this dual-start week. He came within an out of tossing a second consecutive QS against the visiting Guardians in his most recent time toeing the rubber and continues to rack up above-average Ks while demonstrating above-average control.
Stroman’s recent efforts on the bump at Yankee Stadium give hope that he can find success on the hill in Week 24 taking on the visiting Royals and Red Sox. His strikeout numbers have improved of late together with his control, giving hope that this two-start week will see him continue to be a useful addition to your rotations as a quality Fantasy Baseball 2024 Two-Start Pitcher.
Sears has been a more effective hurler on the road than when pitching at Oakland, or he would not be situated in the middle tier of the Fantasy Baseball 2024 Two-Start Pitchers suggested as potential rotation members in Week 24. He offers good control, with sub-average K production, plus his second start is against the White Sox, so perhaps his utility is more as a streaming end-of-the-scoring-period SP.

Not a ton of arms to avoid despite their two-start status this scoring period. Some of these arms have limited service time, but as the season winds down, now is not necessarily the time to take unnecessary chances with your fantasy rotations.
Potential Streaming Options for Week
There is no promise that each game day will provide a streaming option. First of all, the pitcher must be available in at least 50% of leagues to be a viable candidate to snag off the wire. Then, the pitchers discussed above are not included as they have a different sort of value, even though some might be available as free agents in your league. Plus, some days the matchups and/or venues just do not figure as positive enough factors to favor plugging the arm into your rotation, even for one start. That all being said, here are this week’s best Fantasy Baseball 2024 Streaming Starters:
Matthew Boyd, Cleveland Guardians vs. Chicago White Sox
Opening the slate of Fantasy Baseball 2024 Streaming Starters being profiled in Week 24, Boyd is working on a two-game quality start (QS) streak, and has compiled a superior 2.38 ERA and 0.84 WHIP over his 22.2 IP this season. He struck out eight in his most recent home start against the visiting Pirate squad, a hard luck loss where his team’s offense failed to push across any runs. He has a good matchup here, taking on the hapless White Sox offense.
Edward Cabrera, Miami Marlins vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
The Miami right-hander has had a nice August, rolling up a useful 3.58 ERA over his six starts that month. His WHIP suffers from his lack of control (5.0 BB/9 over his 76.0 IP in 2024) but this matchup is against the free-swinging and not very patient Pirate offense projects as a fine streaming opportunity.
Casey Mize, Detroit Tigers vs. Colorado Rockies
Mize finds his way onto this week’s set of Fantasy Baseball 2024 Streaming Starters due to the matchup, as he has been just so-so since returning from injury. The Rockies are woeful when playing away from Coors Field, so a home start against a less-than-daunting opponent lines up well for the 27-year-old righty.
Jack Kochanowicz, Los Angeles Angels vs. Minnesota Twins
The rookie righthander has racked up five consecutive QS, and has been working consistently to lower his once-extravagant ratios to more managed levels. His excellent control offsets his sub-standard K rate (1.99 BB/9, 2.8 K/9 over 38.2 IP). His ability to generate plenty of groundballs is another plus (57.7% GB).
Frankie Montas, Milwaukee Brewers vs. San Francisco Giants
Since joining the Brewers, the veteran righthander has compiled a fantasy-useful 3.82 ERA and 1.27 WHIP over his 33.0 IP in a Milwaukee uniform. He is also racking up some good K numbers, with an 8.7 K/9 in six starts with his new team. This matchup does not play into his home/road strengths, being on the road, although the Brewers are strong no matter the venue, so there is that in his favor.
DJ Herz, Washington Nationals vs. Miami Marlins
The Washington rookie southpaw has appeared in this article more than a few times, as a Fantasy Baseball 2024 Streaming Starters that deserves consideration as a valued addition to most fantasy rotations. He had a bit of a stumble in his last outing, allowing more than two earned tallies for the first time in his last eight times atop the hill. This is a fine matchup, though, taking the ball against a team that is seriously sub-.500 on the season.
Alex Cobb, Cleveland Guardians vs. Tampa Bay Rays
The veteran righty has been supremely effective over his last two times toeing the rubber for the Guardians, allowing just one earned run on five hits while continuing his usual pattern of inducing more than his fair share of grounders from opposing hitters (61.2 % GB). He is not a great source of Ks but is exhibiting superior control (1.6 BB/9) in limited action this season, having made just three starts since his return from injury.
Cooper Criswell, Boston Red Sox vs. Clarke Schmidt, New York Yankees
This week’s pairing where both sides of the matchup have potential value as Fantasy Baseball 2024 Streaming Starters to consider in Week 24 features a pair of hurlers taking the ball against long-time rivals. The Yankee righthander will be making his second start after returning from a lat-strain that has sidelined him since May. Presuming he is close to fully recovered, he should provide great K production. The BoSox SP is not as adept at generating swings and misses, and the team has been limiting his pitch count in recent trips to the bump. He has held the opposition to just two earned runs over his last two starts, though.
Luis L. Ortiz, Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Kansas City Royals
Heading into this weekend, the Pirate youngster has not allowed a run over his last 15.0 IP, twirling a pair of QS over his last two outings. His K production is just average, and he has proved himself more of a road warrior this season but is still no slouch at home. His opponent is just hovering around .500 when on the road, however, so that is a positive for him.
Mitchell Parker, Washington Nationals vs. Miami Marlins
The rookie southpaw has tossed four QS over his past six trips to toe the rubber and has been recording slightly better than a K per inning over those 32.1 IP. He also had a respectable 4.18 ERA over that stretch, but his propensity to allow hits (his walk rate is reasonable at 2.4 BB/9 on the season) has led to an inflated WHIP of 1.45 of recent vintage. Granted, his season-long WHIP sits at a much more presentable 1.27. Facing the Marlins at home makes for a good matchup potential.
Patrick Corbin, Washington Nationals vs. Miami Marlins
Another National arm to consider for Fantasy Baseball 2024 Streaming Starter status this week, the veteran lefthander came within an out of potentially racking up his third consecutive QS in what was his third straight victory. That victory was in Miami against the same Marlin team he faces in this contest, and his home/road splits indicate he is pitching where he is more comfortable and effective in this game.
Kyle Freeland, Colorado Rockies vs Chicago Cubs
Freeland was pulled from his most recent trip to the hill due to a blister issue, and while he has once scheduled start before this matchup, keep an eye on his status if you plan on plugging him into your rotation. If he can take the ball for this contest, he is much more of a dominant presence at home this season. His peripheral metrics hint that he could have more success if he were a bit luckier on the mound, although he is a below-average strikeout producer, albeit with slightly above-average control.
