Brewers optioned RHP Bradley Blalock to Double-A Biloxi.
Blalock was with the big-league club for just two days this time around, but he did get into a game — issuing a walk in a scoreless inning against the Padres on Thursday night. He’ll return back into his starting role at Double-A Biloxi where he’ll continue to serve as extra starting pitching depth for the Brewers.

It’ll be interesting to see how Blalock is utilized this time around, as he has worked exclusively as a starter in the minor leagues, but was called up presumably to work out of the bullpen at the end of May — though he never actually got into a game. The 23-year-old hurler has posted a 4.24 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and a 41/17 K/BB ratio over 51 innings in 11 starts at Double-A Biloxi this season.

Blalock had been with the club four a couple of days as extra bullpen depth, but he’s being sent out on Friday with Enoli Paredes joining the big league roster. Blalock did not appear in a game during his time with the Brewers.

This is pretty unexpected, and even Blalock said he was surprised by the move. The 23-year-old will join the Brewers bullpen for now after posting a 2.27 ERA in seven starts for Biloxi. It might be a short stint, but he could be interesting as a starter later this year if he continues to progress.
