Patrick Corbin allowed two runs with four strikeouts over five innings in a win over the Athletics on Tuesday.
Corbin surrendered a solo homer to Miguel Andujar in the second inning. Lawrence Butler then took him deep for a solo homer in the third. That would be all the damage the A’s could do despite scattering five more his and two walks. The 35-year-old left-hander currently lines up for a start against the Giants in San Francisco on Sunday, but Jack Leiter appears ready to come off the injured list and could step in to Corbin’s spot.
Patrick Corbin held the Angels to one run in 5 1/3 innings to get a win for the Rangers on Wednesday.
Patrick Corbin struggled in his Rangers’ debut on Tuesday, giving up three runs on five hits over four innings in a no-decision against the Cubs.
The 35-year-old southpaw also issued a pair of walks in the ballgame and did not record a strikeout. All of the damage done against him came in the second inning as Dansby Swanson swatted a solo home run and Seiya Suzuki tacked on a two-run single. Corbin got just six swings and misses on 74 pitches on the evening, posting a CSW of only 20 percent. It looks like he’ll continue to hold down a spot in the Rangers’ rotation until Jack Leiter (blister) is able to return, but he can continue to be ignored for fantasy purposes when he takes on the Angels on Tuesday.
Rangers recalled LHP Patrick Corbin from Triple-A Round Rock.
With Jack Leiter (blister) landing on the injured list, Corbin will get the opportunity to make at least a couple of starts with the Rangers. The 35-year-old southpaw had been building up at Triple-A Round Rock but had yet to make a start there. He’ll make his first start with the Rangers on either Monday or Tuesday against the Cubs and can be safely ignored for fantasy purposes.
