Kutter Crawford (knee) threw an up-and-down bullpen session on Friday at Fenway Park without any issues.
It sounds like Crawford has finally reached the point in his rehab where he’s making significant progress towards a return. The next step will be to face live hitters, which sounds like it could happen early next week. With Brayan Bello and Lucas Giolito also nearing returns, it looks like the Red Sox’ rotation will be receiving ample reinforcements over the next few weeks.
Red Sox placed RHP Kutter Crawford on the 15-day injured list with a right patellar tendinopathy.
Crawford’s injury is mildly concerning. He claims he pitched through a knee injury last season and then aggravated the injury in December. Considering it was an injury he dealt with last year as well, it’s not great news that he’s still dealing with it. As of now, the Red Sox are hopeful that Crawford will return in May, but it’s unclear what kind of role he’ll be returning to.
Kutter Crawford (knee) will throw a bullpen session on Tuesday.
Crawford will open the regular season on the shelf after re-injuring his knee last December. He’s expected to progress to facing hitters in the coming weeks, but is expected to miss most of, if not all, of April. Boston’s starting rotation depth has taken a serious hit this spring, but Crawford should make it back by the start of May, barring any setbacks.
Kutter Crawford (knee) is unlikely to be ready for the start of the regular season.
Crawford, 28, is currently dealing with tendinitis in his knee. The right-hander has been able to throw bullpens, but there isn’t likely enough time in the spring sessions to get him ready for the real thing. The good news is Brayan Bello and Lucas Giolito do appear likely ready, so it’s not as big of a hit for the Boston rotation.
