Kyle Freeland was removed from Sunday’s start against the Nationals with a blister.
It’s a tough break for the Rockies as Freeland’s departure came after just two frames in the front-end of Sunday’s doubleheader at Coors Field. He was charged with three runs — one earned — over two innings of work.
Kyle Freeland gave up five runs in five innings to take a loss to the Padres on Sunday.
Freeland, who came in with a 15/0 K/BB in three starts, had two strikeouts and two walks today. He’s the third pitcher to lose three games this season, though if it’s any consolation, his 4.88 ERA is the best mark in that group. He’ll pitch at home against the Nationals next.
Kyle Freeland was hit hard in Tuesday’s loss to the Brewers, giving up five runs on eight hits over his 6 1/3 frames.
On the plus side for fantasy managers, Freeland struck out five batters on the night and didn’t allow a base on balls. The Brewers rallied for four runs against him in the third inning, started with a two-run double off the bat of Jackson Chourio. He then settled in nicely until serving up a solo homer to Brice Turang before exiting in the seventh. Freeland got 14 swings and misses on 100 pitches on the night, registering a solid CSW of 31 percent. He’ll look to get back on track as he carries a 3.79 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and a 15/0 K/BB ratio (19 innings) into a tough matchup against the Padres in San Diego on Sunday.
Kyle Freeland allowed nine hits and three earned runs with three strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings in a loss on Wednesday against the Phillies.
Maybe this is a new Freeland. His stuff wasn’t as sharp as it was on opening day, but he managed to nearly get through seven innings against the Phillies strong lineup. He once again leaned on his new sweeper and it forced eight swings-and-misses. His command waivered a bit against right-handed batters though as Trea Turner, Alec Bohm, and JT Realmuto were tough outs for him. Still, it’s hard not to be encouraged by Freeland so far. It will be a whole new challenge in his next scheduled start on Tuesday though, as he heads home to Coors Field for a start against the Brewers.
