Cade Povich lasted only 3 1/3 innings and was roughed up for seven runs by the Reds on Friday.

Elly De La Cruz, Jeimer Candelario and Matt McLain all homered off him. Povich, now 0-2 with a 6.38 ERA, has a little more time to turn things around with Kyle Gibson still tuning up in the minors, but he’s not long for the majors at this rate. He’s completed five innings in only one of his four starts.

Cade Povich allowed two runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Blue Jays on Sunday.

It was not an efficient outing from Povich, who didn’t allow much hard contact but also couldn’t generate many whiffs at all with just a 13 percent whiff rate and 26 percent CSW. His new changeup continues to struggle to find the zone, and it’s hard to be overly excited about the left-hander even though he has a 3.60 ERA on the season. He could be a decent deep-league streamer against the Reds next week, but the strikeouts just haven’t been there.

Cade Povich allowed four runs on 13 hits in six innings in a loss to the Royals.

The left-hander allowed five extra base hits and an average exit velocity of 95 mph on the day while posting just a 17 percent whiff rate but a solid 30 percent CSW. He pounded the zone with almost all of his pitches, but simply couldn’t miss many bats. In the spring, it seemed like Povich’s changeup had taken a step forward, but he threw 10 today with just a 40 percent zone rate. He did have two whiffs, but he needs to command that pitch better for fantasy managers to trust him, especially next week against the Blue Jays.

Cade Povich yielded three runs in 4 1/3 innings Monday against the Red Sox.

Povich fanned eight, but he gave up five hits and two walks to the remaining 12 batters he faced. His sweeper was the problem today; the 15 times he threw it produced no whiffs, just one called strike and two well-hit balls in play, including Jarren Duran’s two-run triple in the second. He was throwing the pitch a bit softer than last year, so he might need to tighten it up some. Povich will face the Royals next.
