His 4.65 xERA and 4.24 FIP last year look a lot better than his actual ERA of 5.35, but at the end of the day, Mikolas is what he is at this point. He’s a pitch-to-contact innings eater who lives in the strike zone. He doesn’t miss bats, and he boasts one of the best walk rates in the league. His dearth of strikeouts diminishes his overall fantasy value, but he will be one of a handful of pitchers who will log 180+ IP this season. Over the last three seasons, Mikolas has the sixth-most innings pitched in baseball, and while he’ll provide the Cardinals (and fantasy managers) with a lot of innings in 2025, his ERA will be in the mid-4s with a strikeout rate in the mid-to-upper teens. Very low ceiling player.

Miles Mikolas blanked the Braves for six innings in a no-decision Wednesday.
He left with a 1-0 lead that disappeared immediately in the seventh. Mikolas allowed six hits today, but all were singles and most were soft; six of the eight hard-hit balls against him turned into outs. The performance lowered his ERA from 7.64 to 5.70. He’ll make his next start in Cincinnati against the Reds.

Mikolas cruised through the first four innings of this one with nothing more than smoke and mirrors, but the Mets were unable to do damage. Then, in the fifth, the floodgates opened when Mikolas allowed five consecutive hard-hit balls to start the innings before being pulled. He only forced five swings-and-misses in total and continues to look like someone that can’t get major league hitters out consistently. He’s scheduled to face the Brewers in his next start.

Mikolas recorded six strikeouts, which was two more than he had in his first two starts combined. He still dropped to 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA ahead of his next start versus the Mets.
Miles Mikolas was absolutely annihilated in Sunday night’s loss to the Red Sox, surrendering nine runs (eight earned) on a whopping 11 hits over 2 2/3 innings of work. Yikes. Mikolas also walked one while recording one strikeout in the contest. After scratching out a run in the first inning, the Red Sox pounced for five in the second including two-run doubles from both Wilyer Abreu and Alex Bregman. They added another three while chasing him from the game in the third inning. He’ll try to pull himself off the mat and improve upon a miserable 11.25 ERA and 2.00 WHIP when he takes on the Phillies at home on Saturday.
