Week 9 of the NFL season was quite simply, a mess. Going into it, we had a feeling that would be the case, and the action on Sunday didn’t disappoint. Regardless of that, it was still a whole lot of fun. We were also left with more injuries, so let’s dig in and take a look at them. Our NFL injury update for Week 10 features Daniel Jones, Dallas Goedert, and Josh Downs among others.

As news breaks, be sure to update your Week 10 fantasy football rankings and NFL projections either way. This information can also help to focus on important Week 10 start/sit lineup decisions and fantasy football advice surrounding some injured players. The first step though is the NFL injury report as you set Week 10 fantasy football lineups.

Week 10 NFL Injury Report for Quarterbacks

Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals (Knee)

Kyler Murray is off both the PUP list and the Injury Report and he appears to be ready to make his return to action this week. There will be considerable rust here, and the supporting cast isn’t great, but Murray is talented and still might have more upside than most.

Daniel Jones, New York Giants (Knee)

Daniel Jones was hardly able to return from his neck injury before he was lost to injury once again. The problem now is that it appears to be more serious, as Jones is out for a year with a torn ACL. With Tyrod Taylor missing at least three more games while on Injured Reserve, the Giants will turn back to Tommy DeVito or be forced to promote Matt Barkley from the practice squad. DeVito struggled once again on Sunday, but neither is the answer for New York’s offense. The volume will go to Saquon Barkley, but so will the focus of the defense.

Justin Fields, Chicago Bears (Thumb)

While Justin Fields was unable to return to action this week, he did make some progress in practice towards the end of the week. With that being said, the short week ahead of Thursday’s game against Carolina doesn’t work in Fields’ favor, but it is something to monitor in the next few days.

Jaren Hall, Minnesota Vikings (Concussion)

Jaren Hall, we barely knew you. Hall started the game off well by completing five of his six passes for 78 yards prior to exiting with a concussion. That led to the Joshua Dobbs era in Minnesota beginning sooner than expected. Dobbs did well, especially considering the circumstances and the veteran will continue to start for the Vikings. Hall missed practice again on Thursday, but it is pretty clear that Dobbs will be starting for the Vikings on Sunday.

Week 10 NFL Injury Report for Running Backs

Kenneth Walker, Seattle Seahawks (Chest)

After missing practice on Wednesday, Kenneth Walker returned at full strength on Thursday. While Walker is clearly the number one back in Seattle, there has to be some concern in his combined 19 touches over the last two weeks. This week, Walker should get back on track with a good matchup against Washington.

James Conner, Arizona Cardinals (Knee)

After his four-game stint on Injured Reserve, James Conner has returned to practice on a limited basis. Considering Emari Demercado has yet to return to practice and Arizona released Tony Jones, there was to be comfort here that Conner is going to return. Assuming he does return, Conner should be back to his regular workload.

Aaron Jones, Green Bay Packers (Hamstring)

After last week’s performance, we can now have a little more comfort regarding Aaron Jones’ status and expectations heading into Week 10. Jones was limited again in practice this week as the Packers are being careful to manage his workload. It is clear though he has no limitations after gaining 73 yards on 20 carries while scoring a touchdown and catching four passes for 26 yards.

David Montgomery, Detroit Lions (Ribs)

Following two days of full practice participation, David Montgomery appears to be on his way to returning on Sunday. While he was out tending to his ribs, Jahmyr Gibbs found success via an increased workload. We won’t know for sure what the split will be, but it likely will be more evenly divided than it previously was, although Montgomery should be back in his goal line role.

Keaton Mitchell, Baltimore Ravens (Hamstring)

In a blowout victory in Week 9, Keaton Mitchell emerged with 138 yards and a touchdown on nine carries. It is crowded backfield with Gus Edwards and Justice Hill in Baltimore, and it is also a problem as Mitchell was a mid-week addition to the Injury Report. The rookie was limited in practice on Thursday, and while he is going to be part of the rotation, it is still unclear how much we can trust him.

Dameon Pierce, Houston Texans (Ankle)

After missing last week’s game with an ankle injury, Dameon Pierce has yet to return to practice. That does not bode well for his Week 10 status, which means it will be another week of Devin Singletary in Houston’s backfield. Now we just need him to do better than last week.

Cam Akers, Minnesota Vikings (Achilles)

Since the trade to Minnesota, Cam Akers has yet to make much of an impact. After suffering a torn Achilles, that is it for Akers this year. Alexander Mattison’s hold of the backfield gets even stronger with Ty Chandler in reserve.

Kendre Miller, New Orleans Saints (Ankle)

It has been a slow start to Kendre Miller’s NFL career, and after suffering an ankle injury on Sunday, it likely will be put on pause. The Saints will continue to rely on Alvin Kamara in the backfield with support from Jamaal Williams and apparently, Taysom Hill as well. Miller still has not practiced as of Thursday and there is nothing to see here from a fantasy perspective.

Week 10 NFL Injury Report for Wide Receivers

Justin Jefferson, Minnesota Vikings (Hamstring)

He is back. While at least part of the way. Justin Jefferson was designated to return from Injured Reserve and he is practicing on a limited basis. At this point, it seems that it is still a stretch for Jefferson to return to action this week, but there is an outside chance that it does take place. If he does, it goes without saying that he should be immediately back in your lineup.

Tee Higgins, Cincinnati Bengals (Hamstring)

Tee Higgins is slated to miss Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury, and that gives us one less option for Week 10. While Ja'Marr Chase and Tyler Boyd get the initial value boosts, Trenton Irwin could be an interesting option for any volume the aforementioned options don’t soak up.

Ja'Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals (Back)

While Ja'Marr Chase has been dealing with a back injury, the good news is that it appears to be just a bruise. He is practicing on a limited basis, but the interesting part is that we don’t have a 100% guarantee on his status for this week. With that being said, he is still trending towards playing on Sunday, but this is still a situation to keep an eye on.

Drake London, Atlanta Falcons (Groin)

The thought process is that the Falcons’ passing offense should be a little better with Taylor Heinicke now under center. After missing last week’s game with a groin injury, Drake London is practicing without any issues this week. It has been a rough start to the season for London with just two touchdowns, but perhaps this week he can turn things around.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seattle Seahawks (Hip)

It is a great matchup for the Seattle receivers against Washington this week, so it is great news that Jaxon Smith-Njigba returned to practice in full on Thursday. The rookie has emerged as of late and continues to benefit from the injury problems among the Seahawks’ receivers.

Tyler Lockett, Seattle Seahawks (Hamstring)

After returning to practice on Thursday, Tyler Lockett shouldn’t have any limitations or issues heading into Week 10. It might be a full depth chart for Seattle this week, but there should be enough work to go around.

DK Metcalf, Seattle Seahawks (Hip)

DK Metcalf hasn’t missed time since Week 7, so the fact that he was held out of practice on Thursday was likely more of a precaution. At this point, the Seattle portion of this exercise has been completed. While Lockett and Metcalf could very well continue to show up on the Injury Report, it doesn’t appear that there is much to be concerned about at this point.

Curtis Samuel, Washington Commanders (Toe)

After missing last week’s game, Curtis Samuel is trending in the right direction this week in practice. Sam Howell should have a full slate of weapons as Jahan Dotson has been completely cleared from the Injury Report.

Nico Collins, Houston Texans (Calf)

Things have been going great for Nico Collins and the Texans considering the expectations and how they entered the season. After a limited practice on Wednesday, Collins didn’t practice on Thursday as things are not moving in the right direction. Ultimately, Tank Dell figures to be busy, but Robert Woods has also returned to practice after missing the last two games.

Michael Wilson, Arizona Cardinals (Shoulder)

After not practicing or playing last week, Michael Wilson is back on a limited basis. This could be a big offensive week for Arizona as Wilson makes his return now seemingly will get to play with Kyler Murray under center.

Allen Lazard, New York Jets (Knee)

Given the state of both the Jets’ offense and Allen Lazard’s performance to this point, there is some correlation, you shouldn’t be relying on him. With that being said, Lazard has been limited in practice as he continues to play through a knee injury.

Demario Douglas, New England Patriots (Ankle)

With both Kendrick Bourne and DeVante Parker sidelined, the Patriots need Demario Douglas to continue stepping up. Over the past few weeks, he has been a true fantasy commodity, but the rookie is now dealing with an ankle injury. The good news, is that this doesn’t appear to be holding Douglas back from Week 10 action.

Odell Beckham, Baltimore Ravens (Knee)

It was a solid return last week for Odell Beckham as he caught five passes for 56 yards and a touchdown. He practiced in full on Thursday, and there don’t appear to be any issues moving forward here. With Rashod Bateman now limited in practice with a back injury, there could some additional work in store for Beckham once again.

Josh Downs, Indianapolis Colts (Knee)

There were some concerns about Josh Downs’ health prior to Week 9, but he ultimately was good to go. Unfortunately, Downs did exit after catching one pass for 10 yards with a knee injury. Michael Pittman’s value will increase if Downs is in fact sidelined while Alec Pierce will see an uptick in volume. Downs has yet to practice this week which does not translate well to his status for Sunday. Something else to monitor though now is that Pierce is limited with an ankle injury.

Christian Watson, Green Bay Packers (Chest)

Christian Watson had an impression 37-yard catch on Sunday, but it ultimately forced him out of the game with chest and back injuries. The hope is that Watson just got the wind knocked out of him and will be good to go for Week 10 but we will have to watch him in practice. With a full practice on Wednesday, Watson should be good to go.

Treylon Burks, Tennessee Titans (Concussion)

Treylon Burks has yet to return from his concussion, and the Titans are likely going to be without him again this week.

Mack Hollins, Atlanta Falcons (Ankle)

With Drake London out and Taylor Heinicke now under center, Mack Hollins was an interesting option heading into Week 9. Heinicke ultimately struggled and Hollins caught just three passes for 36 yards while dealing with an ankle injury. This will be something to watch for next week, but Hollins’ value is ultimately limited. Hollins has yet to practice this week, and it’s not looking good for him this week.

K.J. Osborn, Minnesota Vikings (Concussion)

On the heels of a strong game last week, KJ Osborn was forced out of action on Sunday with a concussion. It came via a scary helmet-to-helmet hit that puts his status for next week in question. Jordan Addison truly figures to be the go-to receiver now with Brandon Powell taking on a larger role. Osborn has been practicing on a limited basis this week, and while he does need to be cleared, things are progressing well.

Week 10 NFL Injury Report for Tight Ends

Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles (Forearm)

While it forced him out of the game, the details of Dallas Goedert’s forearm injury still remains unclear. Prior to the injury, Goedert caught three passes for 50 yards. The benefit is that the Eagles are heading into their bye week.

David Njoku, Cleveland Browns (Knee)

Once again, David Njoku was limited in practice on Thursday as he manages a knee injury, but there is nothing holding him back from taking the field this week. After touchdowns in each of the last two weeks, Njoku is playing some of his best football of the season.

T.J. Hockenson, Minnesota Vikings (Ribs)

The Vikings are managing T.J. Hockenson’s reps as he deals with a rib injury, but it doesn’t appear to be anything that will keep him off the field on Sunday.
