Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) will make his next minor league rehab start on Thursday for Triple-A Nashville.
Woodruff is aiming for approximately four innings in his next rehab outing and is expected to need a couple additional starts before being ready to make his season debut. The 32-year-old former fantasy ace struck out five and allowed two runs over 3 2/3 innings on Saturday for Triple-A Nashville in his rehab debut.
Tobias Myers (oblique) will make a minor league rehab start on Friday for Triple-A Nashville.
Myers is targeting roughly 65-70 pitches in his final rehab outing before returning next week to Milwaukee’s rotation mix. The 26-year-old righty allowed three runs over five innings on Sunday in his most recent rehab start.
Endry Rodríguez left Monday’s game against the Nationals with an apparent right hand injury.
The Pirates can’t really afford to lose another catcher to injury with starter Joey Bart dealing with a back issue. Rodríguez was struck on the right hand by a pitch from ace Paul Skenes that deflected after hitting Nationals slugger James Wood in the opening frame. There should be an update on his status shortly.
Hayden Birdsong struck out three over two scoreless innings on Sunday in relief against the Yankees.
Birdsong has emerged as a legitimate weapon in shorter bursts out of San Francisco’s bullpen, reeling off nine consecutive scoreless innings over four appearances with nine strikeouts and only three walks during that span. The 23-year-old former pitching prospect is worthy of a roster spot in deeper mixed leagues as a ratio booster, even if he won’t provide a ton of volume.
Rockies selected the contract of C Braxton Fulford from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Fulford gets his first call up to replace Kris Bryant (back) on Colorado’s active roster. He can be safely ignored in all fantasy formats.
Rockies transferred RHP Jeff Criswell to the 60-day injured list.
Criswell underwent Tommy John surgery last month and will be out until the midway point of next season. The procedural move frees up a spot on Colorado’s 40-man roster.
