The Cardinals declared S Jalen Thompson, RB Tony Jones Jr., LB Jesse Luketa, OL Keith Ismael, OL Carter O’Donnell and TE Elijah Higgins inactive for their Week 6 game against the Rams.
Looking pretty healthy, the Cardinals will look to upset the Rams on the road. Despite being 1-4, the Cardinals are a pesky team that takes it to every opponent. Josh Dobbs looks to continue having his coming out party.
Tony Jones rushed eight times for 31 yards in the Saints’ Week 3 loss to the Packers, catching four passes for 21 additional yards.
Jones saw most of his work early in the day, operating as the Saints’ “lead back.” He saw 12 opportunities to Kendre Miller’s 10, and broke off a 19-yard run in the second quarter to help setup a Blake Grupe field goal. Jones will work behind Alvin Kamara in Week 4 when the Saints take on the Buccaneers, with Kamara set to return from his three-game suspension. Jones has little to no upside as a bench stash and can be dropped in all formats.
Saints promoted RB Tony Jones Jr. to the active roster.
Jones Jr. was elevated from the practice squad before Sunday’s game to replace an injured Kendre Miller this week. With Jamaal Williams now injured, Jones Jr. will get his shot on the active roster even with Miller healthy. While many fantasy managers are excited about the prospect of Miller getting more work, Jones Jr. has been with the Saints longer and looked good on Sunday, particularly in pass protection. The two could split work on Sunday before Alvin Kamara returns to take over the backfield in Week 4.
Tony Jones rushed 12 times for 34 yards and two touchdowns in the Saints’ Week 2 win over the Panthers.
Jones was called up from the team’s practice squad to replace an injured Kendre Miller this week. Jamaal Williams drew the start but went down with a hamstring injury in the second quarter. That left Jones as the only other running back on the Saints’ game-day roster. Jones took advantage of the extra reps and punched in a pair of two-yard touchdowns. If Miller and Williams are both unable to play in Week 3, Jones will likely draw the start. He would rank as an RB3/4 versus the Packers.
