This boatload of aces is a wealth of talent to swap into your lineups and let them pitch for your fantasy team(s). Wind them up and let them go, no matter the opponent or venue. Just be careful of weather conditions that could affect performance, or shuffle their scheduled appearances. Could one or more of these arms have a less-than-stellar outing? Possible but no reason not to put your confidence in their overall skillsets.

Severino opened the season by tossing six scoreless innings, but was hit hard in his second outing at home against the visiting Cubs. Hopefully, he will settle in at the team’s new digs in Sacramento, since he has a couple of home starts on tap in Week 2. On a positive note, he is racking up strikeouts at a 9.0 K/9 rate.
May looked strong in his first start since 2023, holding the Braves to one hit over five frames, and striking out six visiting Atlanta batters. He takes on the struggling Nationals for his first road contest, then gets the Cubs at home. He is designated as the sixth starter going forward, and the major concern is whether his health will hold up.
Freeland, although winless to open the year, has pitched well, collecting two quality starts to open the 2025 campaign. He has 10 Ks against zero free passes, and has allowed just three earned tallies over his 12.2 IP, for an attractive set of ratios: 2.13 ERA, 0.87 WHIP. He does face two SPs that are slotted into the top tier above this coming scoring period, so expecting victories is not necessarily wise, but the potential for counting and ratio stat production settles him into the middle tier of dual-start SPs.
Mize came within one out of a QS when he suffered a bout of wildness, walking two Seattle hitters and resulting in his removal from the mound. He has tinkered with his split-finger offering over the winter and spring, and the Tigers are hoping he finally finds himself in his 27th year. As with Freeland above, he has a couple of tough mound opponents lined up in Week 2, but the first is at home, at least.
Gillespie had a strong outing against the Mets, holding the visiting New York offense to just one earned tally on four hits and no walks, while fanning six. He will look to repeat his success while toeing the rubber when he heads to the Big Apple to take on the Mets to open Week 2, then takes on the nationals at home, potentially a less daunting task.

There are not so many arms to avoid using this week in the bottom group, although if trends hold from previous seasons, the 2025 Fantasy Baseball season will have a plethora of hurlers you will be advised to avoid employing in your fantasy rotations despite their dual start status. Although these bottom tier pitchers may provide a potential streaming option in the right venue and against the right opponent, for the health of your pitching stats, it is suggested strongly to avoid these arms at the present time.
Potential Streaming Options for Week 2
There is no promise that each game day will provide a streaming option. First of all, the pitcher must be available in at least 50% of leagues to be a viable candidate to snag off the wire. Then, the pitchers discussed above are not included as they have a different sort of value, even though some might be available as free agents in your league. Plus, some days the matchups and/or venues just do not figure as positive enough factors to favor plugging the arm into your rotation, even for one start. That all being said, here are this week’s best 2025 Fantasy Baseball Streaming Pitcher candidates:
Tylor Megill, New York Mets vs Max Meyer, Miami Marlins
We lead off the 2025 Fantasy Baseball Streaming Pitcher report with a matchup featuring SPs from opposing dugouts. The 29-year-old righty Megill will seek to build on his first 5.0 IP foray into the 2025 season, where he held the host Astros to one earned run on three hits and a single walk, while fanning six. He will look for his second victory in the young season at home against Miami Marlins. Meanwhile, the 26-year-old Meyer will seek to build on his impressive first start of the 2025 season, where he fanned seven visiting Pittsburgh batters while yielding but one earned tally in a 5.2 IP no decision effort on the hill. Limiting the free passes and generating loads of groundballs will serve him going forward, although it should be noted the one run he has allowed occurred on a round-tripper. He was prone to giving up homers last season, so that is a tendency to keep an eye on.
Taijuan Walker, Philadelphia Phillies at Atlanta Braves
Walker has slotted into the Philadelphia rotation due to Ranger Suarez’s back woes landed him on the IL, and he shone in his first time atop the bump in 2025, holding the visiting Rockies scoreless in a 6.0 IP QS He was able to able to accumulate four Ks in the contest, too, and has a road start against the struggling Braves on tap in Week 2.
Zack Littell, Tampa Bay Rays vs Los Angeles Angels
The 29-year-old righty took a hard-luck loss in a QS against the visiting Rockies, where he allowed but a single run over his 6.0 IP. He will be coming off a road contest against the Rangers before this outing at home, facing the Angels who as of this writing have been playing well on the road early in 2025…not to put a damper on his streaming potential.
Andre Pallante, St. Louis Cardinals vs Philadelphia Phillies
The fourth-year SP continued his successful ways on the hill with a 5.0 IP victory over the visiting Twins, allowing just four hits and a pair of free passes. He continues to be a below-average K producer, but offers helpful ratios for his Fantasy Baseball owners. This is less than an ideal matchup but he is able to toe the slab at home.
Griffin Canning, New York Mets at JP Sears, Athletics
Our second head-to-head streaming matchup of the week has a pair of SPs who were saddled with tough-luck losses in their opening outings. If you are looking for Ks, then Sears is the better option, having collected seven strikeouts in his 6.2 IP against the host Mariners, where he at least was credited with a QS. Canning came an out short of qualifying for a QS in Houston.
Jack Kochanowicz, Los Angeles Angels at Houston Astros
Another youngster who opened his 2025 campaign with a QS, he actually has collected nine QS out of his 12 starts in his limited MLB career. With those credentials, he certainly has attractiveness as a single-game streamer, although picking him up for a longer stint on your roster.
Bailey Falter, Pittsburgh Pirates at Cincinnati Reds
Yet another streaming suggestion coming off a QS, albeit a no-decision in the case of the 27-year-old southpaw. Falter offers good control but below-average strikeout production. The opponent here has not been overly impressive in their home park to open the 2025 season; not that the Pirates have looked fantastic in the early going, either but that does not negate Falter’s early success.
Jordan Hicks, San Francisco Giants at New York Yankees
Picking up a victory and a QS, while allowing just a single safe knock and striking out a hitter per frame recommends the veteran righty as a useful SP to plop into your rotation in these early contests. He heads to the East Coast for this matchup, but his home/road splits over the past couple of denote an ability to pitch effectively away from Oracle Park.
Andrew Heaney Pittsburgh Pirates at Carson Spiers, Cincinnati Reds
These two hurlers go against one another in another contest where both arms involved are worth consideration as streaming options. Neither of these SPs are great sources for strikeout numbers, although both do possess good control. If you use one or both of these pitchers, the hope is that their success in limiting runners on the base paths and runners to cross the plate will be on display in this contest.
Kyle Hart, San Diego Padres vs. Colorado Rockies
Hart returned to MLB action after pitching well in the KBO last season, and finally earned his first victory in the majors by defeating the visiting Cleveland squad. He demonstrated good control with limited strikeout production. The two earned runs he allowed were the result of two solo round-trippers. It will be of interest to see if this trend is a continuing state of affairs or if he can get this dinger-serving under control.
