Garrett Crochet gave up four runs in five innings Thursday in a loss to the Mariners.
Crochet struck out nine, but he also walked five, and it took him a season-high 110 pitches to get his 15 outs. He allowed as many earned runs today as in his first five starts combined. Crochet will take a 2-2 record and a 1.95 ERA into his next start in Toronto.
Garrett Crochet tossed six shutout innings with seven strikeouts in a no-decision against the White Sox on Saturday.
It was another excellent outing for Crochet, this time blanking the White Sox over six frames. He scattered four hits and two walks while striking out seven batters on 17 swinging strikes. The bullpen unfortunately couldn’t hold a three-run lead, saddling him with a no-decision. The 25-year-old left-hander now holds a 1.13 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and a 35/10 K/BB ratio across 32 innings. Crochet lines up for his next start against the Mariners in Boston on Thursday.
Garrett Crochet took a no-hitter into the eighth against his former team before being charged with one run in 7 1/3 innings in Boston’s 3-1 win over the White Sox on Sunday.
The run was garbage. Reliever Garrett Whitlock clearly had Matt Thaiss struck out in the eighth, but umpire Brian Walsh blew the call. Thaiss then singled with runners on second and third, and the White Sox might have tied the game at 2-2 had Brooks Baldwin got a better jump from second. As it was, he didn’t attempt to score, and Whitlock was able to retire the next two batters. Crochet, who fanned 11, moved to 2-1 with a 1.38 ERA. He’ll face the White Sox again next weekend.
Garrett Crochet surrendered four runs — one earned — in 5 2/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Blue Jays.
Crochet’s velocity was down some in a frigid night in Boston, but that’s to be expected. He still kept the Jays scoreless until the sixth, when he gave up a George Springer homer and then was let down by the defense, with both Alex Bregman and Kristian Campbell committing errors. Of course, that Crochet walked two along the way also didn’t help. It’s the left-hander’s first loss in a Boston uniform. He’s slated to take on his former team in Chicago this weekend.
