Without much in the way of swing-and-miss stuff tonight, Wesneski gave up eight hits despite allowing only three hard-hit balls (two of which were outs). He finished with just one strikeout. The loss leaves him 1-2 with a 3.86 ERA in advance of a home start against the Tigers.

Wesneski allowed a solo homer to Fernando Tatis Jr., and an RBI double to Manny Machado. Outside of that, the 27-year-old pitched well; issuing just one walk and keeping the San Diego lineup off-balance for most of the year. Weneski has lowered his ERA to 3.91, and he has yet to give up more than three runs in any start. He’ll try and keep that run going against the Royals on Friday.

Hayden Wesneski struck out five over seven innings of two-run baseball Monday in a no-decision versus the Mariners.

The only runs allowed be Wesneski came on a two-run homer by Ryan Bliss — of all people — in the fifth inning. Sans that, the 27-year-old was impressive in his second start with the Astros, and he needed just 82 pitches to get through his seven frames. Wesneski doesn’t miss enough bats to be a set-it-and-forget-it starter in fantasy lineups, but he’s a good streaming option against the weaker ones. The Angels are a team that qualifies more towards the latter, and they’re next over the weekend.
