Blue Jays optioned LHP Easton Lucas to Triple-A Buffalo.
The Lucas experiment appears to be over after posting a bloated 7.41 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 19/9 K/BB ratio across 17 innings (four starts). The 28-year-old southpaw heads back to the minors after getting torched for six runs over 1 2/3 innings on Sunday in a loss to the Mariners. He can be safely dropped in all fantasy formats.
Easton Lucas allowed six runs in 1 2/3 innings and took the loss against the Mariners on Sunday.
Easton Lucas was torched for eight runs over five innings on Monday in a loss to the Blue Jays.
Lucas kicked off a two-start week with an abysmal outing where he surrendered six hits, including three homers. It was Sean Murphy who tagged him for a two-run shot in the opening frame before Austin Riley connected for a pair of homers later on. He finished with three strikeouts and handed out four free passes. He’ll attempt to rebound on Sunday with a home outing against the Mariners.
Easton Lucas fanned eight over 5 1/3 scoreless innings Tuesday against the Red Sox.
Lucas gave up seven hard-hit balls, but none were especially overwhelming, and he wound up getting 12 missed swings with a 34% CSW. He’s definitely been more than a stopgap for the Blue Jays this far, though he still figures to lose his spot once Max Scherzer is activated. In the meantime, he’s due to face the Orioles on Sunday.
