NFL DFS Week 12 WR Coach For FanDuel & DraftKings Fantasy
When looking at the 10-game main slate we have available to us, a couple of things immediately jump out. The first of which is that a lot of the secondaries we love to pick on are on bye (like Jacksonville), or off the main slate (like Baltimore).
Furthermore, all eyes are immediately going to go to the Detroit offense coming off their offensive eruption against the Jaguars, and rightfully so, as they are in another good matchup versus Indy with the highest projected game total on the board. Also, do with this what you will, but of the 10 games in the 1:00 and 4:00 windows, we have five teams that are at least touchdown favorites.
Keep on reading for some insights as to the particular receivers I like this week, and yes, we are running it back with the Detroit Lions!
NFL Week 12 Wide Receivers
Teams on bye: Falcons, Bills, Bengals, Jaguars, Saints, and Jets
Teams not playing on the main slate: Steelers, Browns, Rams, Eagles, Ravens, and Chargers
Quick Notes on the slate:
- 3 games with a line of at least 47 points
- 5 games with a line of 43 or fewer points
NFL DFS WR Coach Week 11 Results
From the top tier picks last week, Amon-Ra St. Brown was a home run, while Puka Nacua and George Pickens put up respectable numbers.
The mid-tier was a bit of a mixed bag, as Jameson Williams was phenomenal, Calvin Ridley lost a long touchdown due to penalty, Cortland Sutton was fine, but Darnell Mooney was a big whiff.
The value tier was highlighted by Jauan Jennings, who had a massive game, and even Devaughn Vele gave us about 2.5x on DraftKings.
Xavier Worthy proved me wrong against Buffalo, thanks to an early touchdown, and Deebo Samuel didn’t get it done against a team who he routinely torches.
NFL DFS WR Top Tier Picks For Week 12
Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit Lions - DraftKings: $8,300 | FanDuel: $9,500
St. Brown just went off last week against Jacksonville, and St. Brown will look to continue his dominance against AFC South opponents (sans Tennessee). He’s scored in eight straight games on the year, and he’s set to be a thorn in the side of Indianapolis’ zone-heavy scheme.
He is clearly Jared Goff’s top target against zone coverage, and he’s hauled in 84.6 percent of his targets with 2.43 Y/RR, per Pro Football Focus (PFF). Don’t overthink it, St. Brown is about as safe as they come.
Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins - DraftKings: $7,200 | FanDuel: $8,300
Despite Tyreek Hill being banged up a bit, with Tua Tagovailoa under center, I’m comfortable rolling Hill out there. In the five games Tagovailoa has started and finished, Hill has 3.00 Y/RR against man coverage, not to mention over 18 yards per reception and a 121.6 passer rating when targeted, per PFF.
Patriots deploy a ton of man coverage, and they’ve allowed the 10th-most fantasy points per game to opposing receivers. While he hasn’t truly erupted since back in Week 1, he has found the end zone in each of his last two games, and overall, I like the matchup for him on paper.
Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers - DraftKings: $7,000 | FanDuel: $8,000
11/22 UPDATE: Evans has been practicing and should be ready for a full workload. Fire him up with confidence!
Evans should be returning to practice and I expect him to be out there on Sunday in darn near a full capacity. Should that change, we’ll obviously update that here, but I expect Baker Mayfield to be ecstatic to have Evans back and feed this man the football early and often.
Game script is a bit of a concern with Tommy DeVito under center, but the Giants have allowed the second-highest yards per target over expectation to perimeter receivers this season, per Fantasy Points’ Data Suite. In his final three full games before injury, he was averaging over 15 fantasy points per game in PPR scoring, not to mention an average of nine targets per game.
Terry McLaurin, Washington Commanders - DraftKings: $6,800 | FanDuel: $7,800
After a down week against a stout Philadelphia secondary, I’m going back to McLaurin here in Week 12. He might only have two touchdowns over his last five games played, and both of them came in the same game, but the target share has remained strong, and it’s a good matchup against Dallas.
Despite the reports, Jayden Daniels seems a little bit banged up, but hopefully some extra rest will do him well prior to this divisional showdown in Week 12. Dallas is a mess, and Washington will look to reassert its dominance and break out of this small losing streak they are in.
NFL DFS WR Mid-Tier Picks For NFL Week 12
DK Metcalf, Arizona Cardinals - DraftKings: $6,600 | FanDuel: $7,900
In his first game back from injury, Metcalf caught seven of nine targets for 70 yards against the 49ers while playing 90 percent of the snaps, thus alleviating any concern about his health.
Metcalf has been Seattle’s most productive wide receiver against cover 3 (0.41 fantasy points per route run) this season, per Fantasy Points’ Data Suite, and going back to 2023, albeit a different offensive system, Metcalf posted 2.56 yards per route run and a similar fantasy point output. Points should be scored in this game, and there’s no Arizona corner I fear containing Metcalf.
Jameson Williams, Detroit Lions - DraftKings: $6,000 | FanDuel: $6,800
Williams is coming off a monster week where he caught four passes for 124 yards and his fourth touchdown of the season. Last week, he feasted on a bad Jacksonville secondary that has been bleeding fantasy points to opposing receivers. Well, he gets that same sort of luxury here in Week 12 against the Colts.
Sure, Indy hasn’t been as bad as Jacksonville has been, but perimeter receivers have dominated them all season, and Williams should be the next receiver to do so. Williams has been better against man coverage than zone this season, but by no means has he been a slouch against zone, putting up over 20 yards per reception and 2.30 Y/RR, per PFF.
Josh Downs, Indianapolis Colts - DraftKings: $6,200 | FanDuel: $6,900
The return of Anthony Richardson didn’t slow down Josh Downs by any means, as he caught all five of his targets for 84 yards and a touchdown. Sure, overall volume might be lower for Downs compared to when Joe Flacco was under center, but Richardson will push the ball downfield, and last week, Downs led the Colts in receiving yards, and trailed only Michael Pittman in first read rate, per Fantasy Points’ Data Suite.
Detroit has been weak in slot coverage all season, and this is where we want to attack this defense. It’s tough to run on Detroit, and they are a pass-funnel defense (5th-highest pass rate over expectation), so we should see another productive day for the second-year receiver in Indy.
NFL Week 12 DFS WR Value Picks
Rome Odunze, Chicago Bears - DraftKings: $4,800 | FanDuel: $5,400
In the first game after the Shane Waldron era, Odunze caught six of 10 targets for 65 yards. Sure, it was a modest fantasy output for Odunze, but the way in which he was used is what makes him my preferred play in this matchup.
In Week 11, Odunze led the Bears’ big three receivers in air yards, target share, and receiving yards. DJ Moore barely got past the sticks more often than not, and Odunze saw the slot at a pretty high clip last week (43.3%), which bodes well for this matchup against Minnesota.
Devaughn Vele, Denver Broncos - DraftKings: $3,900 | FanDuel: $5,500
The Raiders have struggled with players lined up in the slot the past couple of weeks, and that should give us some optimism for Vele, Denver’s primary slot receiver. He may not see a ton of volume, but he’s been able to be pretty efficient with rookie quarterback Bo Nix. He’s caught 81.3 percent of his targets for the whole season, but over his last four weeks, he’s caught 86.7 percent of his targets (13-for-15).
While the Raiders overall haven’t been the best matchup for opposing receivers, slot receivers have given them fits of late, and teams have actually wanted to throw the ball more than expected against them in recent weeks (top-4 in weekly PROE in last three weeks).
Wan'Dale Robinson, New York Giants - DraftKings: $5,200 | FanDuel: $5,700
Robinson and not Nabers? I believe that’s the path. Last year, when DeVito got some run, he posted 6.2 yards per attempt and a 6.6 average depth of target, per PFF. In other words, he’s not going to be pushing the ball down the field.
In his six starts last season, it was Robinson who led the team in target share, receptions, and first read rate, per Fantasy Points’ Data Suite. Sure, Robinson’s numbers during that stretch were a bit underwhelming, but opportunities are opportunities, and there should be plenty for Robinson.
The Giants will likely look to ease in DeVito, which should consist of quick, short, high-percentage passes to Robinson, and it’s a good matchup for Robinson out of the slot, as Tampa Bay has been one of the more generous defenses to slot receivers all season long.
NFL DFS WR Fades For Week 12
Tank Dell, Houston Texans - DraftKings: $6,400 | FanDuel: $7,000
I love the player, but at this price point in this matchup, I can’t get myself to play Dell this week. The target numbers in recent weeks are healthy, but Nico Collins should handle more snaps this week, and John Metchie is emerging a bit in this offense.
Dell has just two games this year with six or more receptions, and one just one game with more than 65 yards. Furthermore, it’s not a great matchup against Tennessee, who has actually been stingy to opposing wideouts for the most part, and their defensive scheme isn’t lucrative for Dell.
Tennessee plays Cover 4 at the highest rate in the league, per Fantasy Points’ Data Suite, and Dell has a measly 0.21 fantasy points per route run against Cover 4 this year. For context, that’s barely ahead of Dalton Schultz (0.16). C.J. Stroud has just two passing touchdowns in his last five games, and everything flows through Joe Mixon and a strong defensive effort.
NFL Week 12 WR Play Of The Week
Marvin Harrison, Arizona Cardinals - DraftKings: $6,100 | FanDuel: $7,200
Don’t forget about Marvin Harrison! The team was on bye in Week 11, but in the three games prior to the team’s bye, he was averaging 66.3 yards and 0.7 touchdowns per game. However, I’m expecting big things from Harrison on Sunday against the Seahawks.
Against man coverage this year, Kyler Murray seemingly only has eyes for Harrison, and the rookie receiver has been dominant against man coverage. Not only has he posted 2.36 yards per route run (Y/RR) against man coverage this year, but he has over 52 percent of the team’s air yards, a massive 33.8 percent target share, and 34.5 percent first read rate, per Fantasy Points’ Data Suite.
Seattle has some talented corners, but against man coverage, Harrison Jr. has been that dude. This game should easily be one of the top two or three highest scoring games on the slate, and the Seahawks have allowed the most fantasy points per game to receivers over the last four weeks.
