We've hit the first run of bye weeks in the NFL which means we have just 10 games on the NFL DFS main slate over on DraftKings and 11 games over on FanDuel as they continue to include the Sunday Night Football game with their contests.

With the fewer games on the slate we have fewer players in the player pool and thus fewer selections to build our lineups around.

That said, there are still some fun matchups to target this week with some strong mid-tier options to choose for our roster construction.

This week, we once again look to take advantage of some top matchups for our NFL DFS Week 5 QB coach as I bring you my NFL DFS Week 5 QB coach top targets, values and fades to build your lineups around this weekend.

Week 4 had some winners and had some losers in the QB coach. Our play of the day, Caleb Williams, sadly saw the offense defer to the running game against the Rams with D'Andre Swift having a monster performance. But with the Williams miss we also had the hits with seven of the top 10 QB's on the DraftKings DFS main slate, including Justin Fields who was the top scoring QB.

NFL DFS Week 5 QB Coach For FanDuel & DraftKings Fantasy

Our Week 5 DFS slate features just three QB's over $7,000 on DraftKings and just six QB's priced over $8,000 on FanDuel.

With bye weeks and primetime games this week we are without Jared Goff, Jalen Hurts, Will Levis, Justin Herbert Aaron Rodgers, Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, Kirk Cousins, Dak Prescott, Justin Fields, Derek Carr and Patrick Mahomes on the main slate for DraftKings and everyone but Prescott and Fields on FanDuel.

When it comes to game totals this week we are looking at the Indianapolis Colts vs Jacksonville Jaguars with a 46 total, Baltimore Ravens vs Cincinnati Bengals with a 50.5 total, Buffalo Bills vs Houston Texans with a 47 total and the Arizona Cardinals vs San Francisco 49ers with a 49.5 total.

NFL DFS QB Top Tier Picks For Week 5

Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens - DraftKings: $7,500 | FanDuel: $8,800

What isn't there to like about the man who is always a threat to lead the entire slate in QB scoring? The rushing upside continues to be elite with rushing touchdowns now in back-to-back weeks. We saw Jackson even throw two touchdowns in Week 4 in the Ravens blowout win over the Buffalo Bills.

Yes, this is a divisional matchup and yes the Ravens are on the road but this Bengals defense is not very good whatsoever and the very real threat of Derrick Henry wearing down opposing defenses just opens the door for Jackson to make easy throws and when he breaks containment the big gains are going to be there.

C.J. Stroud, Houston Texans - DraftKings: $7,200 | FanDuel: $8,400

I asked for it and we received it. Stroud has made the QB Coach each week this season but up until last week he has largely disappointed but agaisnt the Jaguars in Week 4 he went out and completed 67% of his passes for 345 yards and two touchdowns.

In Week 5 we have the Texans, again at home, and this time facing a Buffalo Bills defense that was just rocked by the Baltimore Ravens.

We know there is a little revenge game narrative in play as well with Stefon Diggs ready to torch his former team and I'd be willing to be that C.J. Stroud will be more than happy to feed him the football.

Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders - DraftKings: $6,800 | FanDuel: $8,700

He is quickly running away as the rookie of the year favorite but Daniels is also getting some early MVP chatter as well and deservingly so as he followed up completing 91.3% of his passes in a win over the Bengals by completing 86.7% of his passes in a win against the Cardinals with both games being on the road.

The Commanders are back home in Week 5 and while they face a really tough Cleveland Browns defense, there doesn't seem to be a book on Daniels quite yet. Opposing teams can't just sit back and let him throw because he is going to piece them apart and if they lose containment he is going to kill them with his legs.

While he is still under $7,000 on DraftKings we should be putting him in our lineups and while he is among the top overall priced QB's on FanDuel that isn't a deterrent for me there either.

NFL DFS QB Mid-Tier Picks For NFL Week 5

Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers - DraftKings: $6,500 | FanDuel: $8,200

Packers offense looked a little rusty at the beginning of the game against Minnesota and then they almost pulled off an incredible second half comeback with Love throwing for 389 yards and four touchdowns. Yes, his three interceptions aren't what you want to see but we have to love the volume.

In Week 5 the Packers go on the road to face a Rams defense that does struggle against the pass and while I said this same thing last week when it came to Caleb Williams only to watch D'Andre Swift eat this defense alive, I'm going right back to the well with Love and predicting he will have a multi-touchdown performance this week.

NFL Week 5 DFS QB Value Picks

Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars - DraftKings: $5,700 | FanDuel: $7,000

Trevor Lawrence and the Jags offense isn't THIS bad, right? The matchup against the Colts is pretty elite and Jacksonville is at home for just the second time this season.

The offense has started to get Christian Kirk more involved and rookie Brian Thomas Jr. looks like a legit weapon.

There is definitely risk here but I'm hopeful this game turns into a shootout where Lawrence is forced to throw.

Joe Flacco, Indianapolis Colts - DraftKings: $5,500 | FanDuel: $6,800

Joe Flacco is back, we hope, as Anthony Richardson is dealing with a hip injury that forced him from the team's Week 4 game.

In his place we saw Flacco look like the guy who was a fantasy darling at the end of last season for the Browns as he threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns against a really tough Steelers defense.

If he starts,  we know the game plan here is to let him throw and that kind of volume with the receivers on this Colts team could make for some big play potential.

Deshaun Watson, Cleveland Browns - DraftKings: $5,300 | FanDuel: $6,900

I know, I know. Watson has been pretty brutal BUT the Washington Commanders pass defense is pretty bad and though we saw Kyler Murray struggle to get anything going last week, I don't think Watson will have the same type of struggles.

Watson's day should have been better but an 80-yard touchdown pass was called back due to a penalty and this team does have some good receivers with Amari Cooper and Jerry Jeudy.

NFL DFS QB Fades For Week 5

Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals - DraftKings: $6,700 | FanDuel: $7,500

He didn't look good last week against the Commanders in a smash spot and now the Cardinals go on the road to face a really good San Francisco 49er defense.

This just isn't the spot I want to put Murray into my lineups unless I am max entering and looking to be different from the field.

NFL Week 5 QB Play Of The Week

Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks - DraftKings: $5,900 | FanDuel: $7,400

I'm a bit shook from Monday night as I bet the over 1.5 passing touchdowns for Smith only to see Kenneth Walker have a monster day on the ground and for Smith to complete nearly 68% of his passes for 395 yards but just the solo touchdown.

Right now the Seahawks lead the NFL in passing yards per game at 280.8 and they are home against a Giants defense that has some struggles with their secondary play.

With DK Metcalf coming off his third straight 100-yard receiving game and both Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Tyler Lockett making plays, I'm absolutely loving this spot for Geno Smith this week.
