MLB DFS Picks & Playbook For Today’s Games: Thursday, July 25th
Published: Jul 25, 2024
Happy Thursday! We are going bright and early this morning to get prepped for today’s slate of games. A travel day for many teams means we have a smaller slate today, but there should still be some quality games and some great options for us to build some more winning MLB DFS lineups!
We have a 6-game slate getting underway at 12:05 PM ET on both DraftKings and FanDuel. Some great pitchers taking the mound and some quality lineups should give us plenty of excitement for this afternoon. With start time approaching quickly let’s not waste any time and dive right into today’s playbook and my favorite MLB DFS picks for the day!

MLB DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts
We have some aces taking the mound at the top end in Corbin Burnes, Dylan Cease, and Taj Bradley (yes, I think Taj Bradley, with his league-best ERA over his last 8 starts, has earned him the ace title). The pitchers outside of my favorites that I would consider looking at today are Taj Bradley (I’m labeling him as an ace, but he isn’t in my favorites just because of my preference for the two pitchers at the top with him), Logan Webb, and Gavin Williams.
With a small slate and some good pitching options, our hitting options are a little more limited. However, there are still some quality offenses to choose from, with my favorites being the San Diego Padres, Cleveland Guardians, Baltimore Orioles, and Texas Rangers.

Core MLB DFS Pitchers
Corbin Burnes, Baltimore Orioles
One of the best pitchers in baseball against one of the worst offenses in baseball makes this a pretty obvious choice here. I know his strikeouts have been lower, but they have still been consistent, and the Miami Marlins actually have the second-highest strikeout rate against right-handed pitchers since June 1st at 26%, along with the second-worst OPS over that time.
Dylan Cease, San Diego Padres
Dylan Cease might not have quite the track record that Corbin Burnes has, and he is facing a slightly tougher opponent in the Washington Nationals, though not a strong one. However, his recent performances have been even more impressive than Burnes's.
Over his last two starts, Cease has thrown 13 innings with 21 strikeouts without giving up a run and only giving up two hits. While he won’t be able to keep up that level of production forever, I expect another solid outing from him today.
Chris Bassitt, Toronto Blue Jays
We know Chris Bassitt’s struggles against lefties, but the Ray’s lefty bats haven’t been very impressive lately, and I am willing to bet on Chris Bassitt being able to shut them down here today.
Bassitt has at least 6 strikeouts in 7 of his last 10 outings, and among the cheap options today, I think he has the best chance of going out and putting together a solid outing.
Recommended MLB DFS Hitters

*Note: Will Be Updated As Official Starting Lineups Are Released
Ryan O'Hearn, 1B Baltimore Orioles
The Baltimore Orioles are one of my favorite stacks today despite struggling in their first two games against the Marlins in this series. Ryan O’Hearn provides a great value option at first.
He should be back in the cleanup spot for the Orioles, and Roddery Munoz has not been good against lefties. Lefties are slashing .302/.395/.677 against Munoz this season (a 1.072 OPS), so I am confident that O’Hearn can provide great value in this spot today.
Tyler Fitzgerald, 2B/SS San Francisco Giants
Tyler Fitzgerald’s dominance continues. He had five straight games with homers, followed it up with a double yesterday, and remains a great value option.
Sure, he has to face Clayton Kershaw today, but how good is Kershaw going to be in his first outing back? Even if he is pitching well, he likely won’t be out there for very long, so Fitzgerald should have plenty of opportunities to continue this hot streak.
Manny Machado, 3B San Diego Padres
Manny Machado has four hits in his last two games, including two doubles, breaking out of what has been a bit of a colder stretch for him. On top of that, the Padres just scored 12 runs against the Nationals yesterday, and today, they get to face Patrick Corbin, so we are definitely open to stacking against him here today. Manny Machado remains one of my favorite options from their lineup.
Anthony Santander, OF Baltimore Orioles
Anthony Santander only had one single yesterday but still extended his hit streak to 10 games, during which he has been crushing the ball. I already talked about Roddery Munoz's struggles against lefties, and Santander has 21 of his 27 homers this season from the left side of the plate.
With him batting third behind Ryan O’Hearn, this makes itself an obvious two-man stack, even if you don’t want to go after some of the other Baltimore bats today.
