Anthony Santander slugged his third home run of the season on Sunday, accounting for all of the Blue Jays’ offense in a loss to the Yankees.
The 30-year-old outfielder tagged Yankees’ starter Clarke Schmidt for a 401-foot (104.8 mph EV) solo shot in the third inning that tied the game at 1-1. That would be it for the Jays’ offense. Santander finished the evening 1-for-3 plus a walk. He has really struggled through the first month of the season, slashing an anemic .179/.261/.302 with three homers and only nine RBI.
Anthony Santander is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Astros.
It appears to be a routine off day for Santander, who has split time between DH and the corner outfield spots in his Blue Jays debut. He’s off to a slow start at the plate this season, hitting .196 (18-for-92) with two homers and only eight RBI through 23 games.
Anthony Santander went 2-for-4 and swatted a three-run homer on Tuesday night, helping to power the Blue Jays to a 6-3 victory over the Braves.
Santander did his damage off of Spencer Schwellenbach in the fifth inning, jumping on a first-pitch cutter and clobbering a 409-foot (106.4 mph EV) three-run shot that extended the Blue Jays’ advantage to 6-1. His bat has finally started to show signs of life over the past week, as he’s now hitting .211/.291/.338 to go with a pair of taters and six RBI.
Anthony Santander went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Orioles on Saturday.
Santander got on the board with his first home run of the season, taking Tomoyuki Sugano deep for a solo blast in the third inning. The 30-year-old slugger has gotten off to a cold start at the plate, slashing .190/.288/.259 over 66 plate appearances. Hopefully Saturday’s blast can get him going at the dish.
