Rodriguez will throw his third bullpen session later this week, but Orioles general manager Mike Elias told reporters that he still has “a lot” ahead in his recovery from right elbow inflammation. It certainly doesn’t sound like Rodriguez is close to heading out on a minor league rehab assignment any time soon.

He struck out four and didn’t hand out a free pass, throwing 63 pitches (45 strikes) in this one. Orioles general manager Mike Elias told reporters Tuesday that he expects Gibson to make at least one additional minor-league start before making his Baltimore debut sometime around May 1.

Cowser’s potential return timeline from a fractured left thumb has narrowed considerably from last month’s initial 6-8 week estimate. The 25-year-old outfielder is still several weeks away from starting a minor league rehab assignment, but it’s encouraging that he hasn’t suffered any setbacks during his rehabilitation process.

Elias told reporters Tuesday that Eflin’s return timetable is more in the range of weeks instead of months. The 31-year-old righty hit the IL last week with a right lat strain, so this is an encouraging update. It’s possible he’ll be ready to rejoin Baltimore’s rotation at some point in May, but there isn’t an official timeline at this juncture. There should be a clearer picture once he resumes throwing.
