Welcome to another day of MLB DFS here at Fantasy Alarm. We get a great 9-game main slate on DraftKings kicking off at 7:05 PM EST.

We have another great day of baseball with plenty of interesting pitchers to choose from. The Red Sox and Yankees will continue their rivalry series following an incredible Friday game where we saw Aaron Judge hit a ball 470 feet to dead center. Randy Arozarena is set to make his debut in Seattle following the trade from Tampa and hopefully he can help spark that offense.

MLB Weather: Today, 7/27

Chicago Cubs vs Kansas City Royals

There is some rain in the area that could cause an early delay or even a late start for this game.

Washington Nationals vs St. Louis Cardinals

Rain could cause this game to start late but keep an eye on the forecast as we approach the first pitch.

MLB DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

Shota Imanaga and Seth Lugo are the top-priced options at pitcher, but most of my interest falls into the mid-tier with guys like Brandon Pfaadt and Blake Snell

Offensively, the Oakland and Angels series has seen a lot of runs scored so I have interest in those lineups, as well as some Diamondbacks.

Core MLB DFS Pitchers

Shota Imanaga, Chicago Cubs

Shota Imanaga has looked amazing all year, especially over his last three starts. He found quality starts against three good offenses in Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Arizona, and his strikeouts are coming back with 10, eight, and six in those starts. This matchup is interesting as the Royals rank in the bottom half in most categories against left-handed pitchers over the last 30 days, but also have the lowest strikeout rate at just 14.7%. He will have to deal with a guy named Bobby Witt Jr, but Shota just shut down better offenses. You can also use Seth Lugo on the other side of this matchup if you need to save a little bit of salary.

Bryan Woo, Seattle Mariners

Bryan Woo has been all over the place this year, constantly battling injuries. He has a solid 2.54 ERA but is only striking out 17.9% of batters, down from 25.1% in his 2023 campaign. He’s in a great spot against the White Sox who have been at the bottom of the league in almost every offensive category all season, holding a 27% strikeout rate over the last 30 days. His pitch count is a little bothersome as he has only thrown more than 80 pitches in one start this year, but 73 pitches in his last start is at least encouraging.

Brandon Pfaadt, Arizona Diamondbacks

Brandon Pfaadt has tallied at least 23 dk points and six strikeouts in three of his last four starts, while only allowing two total runs across those starts. He’s striking out 22.7% of batters and his 3.25 xERA suggests he can carry his recent success forward. Pittsburgh’s offense ranks in the bottom half of the league against right-handed pitchers over the last 30 days, including a 23rd-ranked wOBA at .297. He’s been worse against lefties so a player like Oneil Cruz may give him issues, but he’s allowing just a .183 AVG to righties on the season to balance it out.

Blake Snell, San Francisco Giants

Is Blake Snell back? He’s struggled all year and hasn’t been able to stay healthy, but his last three starts may be the start of his turnaround. He held the Dodgers to two runs in his last start and threw a seven-inning one-hitter against the Twins with eight strikeouts the game before. He’s still walking a ton of guys which is problematic, but he did this last year while winning the Cy Young. His price tag is just too low for this matchup against the Rockies who outside of Coors over the last 30 days hold a 33.7% strikeout rate against southpaws. The Rockies do have a .216 team ISO but Snell is not a pitcher who historically has given up a lot of home runs.

Erick Fedde, Chicago White Sox

Erick Fedde is matched up against the Mariners which makes him an automatic consideration. Yes, they did just crush Drew Thorpe in Friday’s game, hanging eight runs off him in the first, but they are still a struggling offense. Fedde is striking out 21.6% of batters and the Mariners lead the league in strikeout rate over the last 30 days at 30.6%. They rank at the bottom in almost every offensive category and Fedde’s price tag makes him an interesting play.

Note: Will Be Updated as Official Starting Lineups Are Released

Brent Rooker, OF, Oakland Athletics

Brent Rooker is an absolute monster. He’s batting .288 on the season with 25 home runs and 72 RBI. He’s hit four home runs since the All-Star break, including three in his last four, almost like he’s angry about being left off the ballot. Against lefties this year, he has a towering .394 ISO with a .978 OPS and .399 wOBA. Tyler Anderson has largely pitched well, but his underlying numbers and 4.32 xERA suggest a lot of regression coming his way.

Ketel Marte, 2B, Arizona Diamondbacks

Pittsburgh is starting southpaw Marco Gonzales, so as has been the case all season, Ketel Marte has become one of my favorite plays. He’s having a career year, batting .296 with 22 home runs and 70 runs scored on the year. His numbers against lefties are ELITE, with a .336 ISO, 1.093 OPS, and .454 wOBA. Not to mention, he has three home runs and three multi-hit games over his last four.

Tyler Fitzgerald, SS, San Francisco Giants

Tyler Fitzgerald is going to make the playbook every day if he continues playing this way. He hit a home run in five straight games and after the streak ended, he hit two in his last game. Over his last 10 games, he has a .452 AVG, 1.799 OPS, and has hit seven home runs with 14 RBI. He’s in the territory of being a must-play, in at least one of your lineups.

Bobby Witt, SS, Kansas City Royals

It may not be the ideal matchup with Shota Imanaga on the mound for the Cubs, but Bobby Witt Jr is an elite player, especially at home. In his home ballpark, he has a .411 AVG, 1.194 OPS, and .318 ISO. He’s hitting .513 with a 1.430 OPS over his last 10 games and has tallied three home runs, eight RBI, and a steal. He now leads all of baseball with a .343 AVG and his ceiling is the moon on every slate.

Alex Bregman, 3B, Houston Astros

Alex Bregman is having a disappointing year, but he’s been better of late. Over his last 10 games, he’s batting .282 with a .821 OPS and two home runs. He has hits in four straight games, including two doubles and a homer. He has the split advantage with lefty Justin Wrobleski on the mound for the Dodgers and is a solid option at the generally bleak position of 3B.
