Winker was expected to be the primary DH for the Mets this year, but a slow start to the campaign has seen him lose playing time to Starling Marte. Marte will again get the start as the designated hitter even with right-hander J.T. Ginn on the bump for the A’s.

This was Bradish’s first bullpen as he recovers from Tommy John surgery he underwent last June. The hope is that Bradish can return to the Baltimore rotation at some point in the middle of the 2025 campaign.

Baltimore will need a fifth starter next week, but it won’t be Gibson, with Hyde indicating that his promotion to the Orioles is “down the road.” The 37-year-old signed late in the season, so his debut likely won’t come until the middle of May.

Westburg was held out Wednesday with what manager Brandon Hyde called an upper body “knock” but a couple days off seems to have done the trick. Just don’t be surprised if Westburg gets another day off for maintenance in the coming days/weeks.

Slater was scratched from the lineup Friday against the Red Sox, and now the reason is clear. Slater will assuredly miss more than the minimum stint, and the White Sox have recalled Greg Jones to take his place on the active roster.

Jones was just optioned back down to Charlotte Friday, but he’s allowed to be recalled since he’ll take the place of Austin Slater, with Slater hitting the injured list. Jones will be a bench option with the White Sox while with the team; probably for longer than 24 hours this time.
