2025 Player Outlook

After a dominant year in the KBO in 2023, Fedde was a solid arm for Chicago and St. Louis in 2024. Sure, his numbers were better with the White Sox than they were with the Cardinals, but outside of a spike in his ERA and reduction in his ground ball rate, he wasn’t all that different on the mound. The strikeout rate from the KBO was never going to translate to the MLB, but he can very easily replicate last year’s 21.2 percent mark this season. He’s locked in the St. Louis rotation and should be in line for 175+ IP yet again in 2024 with a sub-1.30 WHIP. He’s a fine target outside the top 80 starters, especially if your front load your rotation with high strikeout arms.

Erick Fedde allowed one run with five strikeouts over six innings in a loss to the Astros on Tuesday.

Fedde worked a clean first inning, then stranded the bases loaded in the second. He worked some magic once again in the fourth, escaping with the bases loaded for a second time. A double and a base hit in the sixth would score the first run of the game to put the Astros ahead. The 32-year-old right-hander did an excellent job limiting Houston to the one run while striking out five, but took the loss with no run support. Fedde will take a 3.43 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and a 10/11 K/BB ratio across 21 innings into a start against the Mets in New York on Sunday.

Erick Fedde was lifted after throwing six hitless innings Wednesday against the Pirates.

Fedde, who struck out two and walked four, was at 88 pitches through six, so while the Cardinals could have sent him back out for the seventh, there was no way he going to have a chance to complete the no-hitter. The Pirates finally got a knock in the seventh when Endy Rodríguez singled off Phil Maton. Fedde was lit up by the Red Sox in his previous start, but he’s pitched effectively in two of three starts. That said, we don’t much like the 5/8 K/BB through 15 innings. He’ll take on the Astros next.

Erick Fedde was charged for six runs in three innings in a loss Friday to the Red Sox.

The Red Sox came out swinging against Fedde in the first, and the 32-year-old righty allowed a pair of homers and an RBI double to give up a five-spot in that frame. He allowed another run in the third before exiting. Not only did Fedde allow five hits, he also walked four in an ugly start for those who chose to take the risk of having him in their lineup Friday. Whoops. Fedde should have a better time against the Pirates next week. It can’t get much worse, anyway.
