Brent Rooker went 2-for-4 with a solo homer, two runs scored, and a walk against the Rangers on Tuesday.
After knocking a base hit in the fifth inning, Rooker drew a walk and scored int he seventh. He then went yard in the eighth with a solo homer off Jacob Webb for his third homer in five games. The 30-year-old slugger is up to seven homers while hitting .245/.295/.500 with 15 runs scored and 13 RBI across 105 plate appearances.

That noise you hear is the footsteps of top prospect Nick Kurtz nearing the major league roster. With Kurtz crushing the ball in Triple-A, the Athletics are trying to make room in the lineup, and Rooker being able to play the outfield regularly would allow Kurtz and Tyler Soderstrom to trade off between 1B and DH. You should be stashing Kurtz in your leagues if he’s still available.

Rooker singled off of Sean Burke in the opening inning and rode home on Tyler Soderstrom’s first three-run blast. He then singled in the sixth inning and once again rode home on a three-run bomb by Soderstrom. The 30-year-old slugger also worked a walk to start the ninth inning and raced around to score on an RBI double off the bat of Shea Langeliers. He’s off to a bit of a slow start at the plate this season, slashing .205/.256/.411, though he does have four home runs and eight RBI to his credit.
