2024 Player Outlook
2023 Recap: Pfaadt had a rough start to his career, but down the stretch, he was much, much better. In 13 appearances (12 starts) after the All-Star Break, he posted a 4.22 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, and over one strikeout per inning. Then, he gets five starts in the postseason, and posts a 3.27 ERA and 26:5 K/BB ratio across 22 IP. Pfaadt's sweeper and changeup each registered a whiff rate of at least 33 percent, and the increasing usage of his sinker helped mitigate some of the damage through the air that was done against him.
2024 Outlook: The young right-hander has a lot of potential, but fortunately for fantasy managers, the recency bias from his second half and postseason numbers didn't inflate his ADP too much. In a full season pitching for a very good Arizona team, he could win 11-13 games with a 4.20 ERA and 1.30 WHIP, and those rather conservative projections would already be a sizable return on investment. He's a great upside target as your team's SP5 or SP6.
