NFL DFS Week 8 WR Coach For FanDuel & DraftKings Fantasy

We certainly aren’t hurting for value receivers in the NFL DFS Week 8 WR Coach, and over on DraftKings, three of the top seven priced receivers on the board will not be playing on Sunday in Nico Collins, Mike Evans, and Chris Godwin

There are a ton of mid-tier receivers that you can use to build your lineups without sacrificing upside! Overall, you’ll find my DFS WR play of the week below, but some guys that just missed the cut are A.J. Brown, Stefon Diggs, and Drake London

Yes, I’m going back to the Houston pass attack this week, despite looking putrid against Green Bay in Week 7. Check out Tyler Boyd and Rashod Bateman if you need some super cheap options to round out your Week 8 NFL DFS lineups.

NFL Week 8 Wide Receivers

With no international games or teams on bye, we have a full 13 game main slate! Believe it or not, at time of writing, there are no games on the main slate with a game total above 50, though Green Bay-Jacksonville is flirting with it at 49.5.

Additionally, we have no games in the 30s, though I expect that Saints-Chargers game to eventually dip below 40. Without giving away too much, this NFL DFS Week 8 WR Coach really likes the outlook for Chicago, Buffalo, Atlanta, Houston, and Green Bay through the air.

NFL DFS WR Coach Week 7 Results

From the top tier picks last week, Justin Jefferson and Amon-Ra St. Brown took care of business, while Stefon Diggs (and the entire Houston passing attack) massively underperformed.

The mid-tier was a bit of a mixed bag, as Terry McLaurin, Tee Higgins, and Drake London were solid, but Tank Dell and Diontae Johnson flopped.

The value tier was a big whiff, as injuries reared their ugly head for a few guys, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Christian Watson didn’t capitalize in good matchups.

Fading Tyreek Hill was spot on, and my play of the week, A.J. Brown, was the WR3 on the main slate (behind only St. Brown and Jefferson).

NFL DFS WR Top Tier Picks For Week 8

A.J. Brown, Philadelphia Eagles - DraftKings: $8,200 | FanDuel: $9,000

Brown is an alpha receiver, and he took care of business last week against the Giants. Now, we’ll expect him to do the same thing against the Bengals.

He should see a good bit of Cam Taylor-Britt, and while the young corner has some splashy plays on the season, he’s tied for the league lead in touchdowns allowed in coverage with four, and he has allowed a 128.9 passer rating when targeted, per Pro Football Focus (PFF).

Perimeter receivers have had their fair share of success against the Bengals in 2024, and I expect Brown to be the next guy to do so. Brown has at least five receptions, 89 yards, and a touchdown in all three games he’s appeared in this year.

Drake London, Atlanta Falcons - DraftKings: $7,200 | FanDuel: $7,900

Outside of Week 1, London has been as consistent as they come. Over his last six games, he has at least six receptions and 50+ yards in each game, while scoring in all but one of his last six contests.

Both Atlanta and Tampa Bay have been playing in high-scoring affairs, and the last time these two teams played, we had an electric Thursday Night Football game that ended with a 36-30 win for Atlanta in overtime. Tampa Bay will be without Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, but as long as Tampa Bay can keep it somewhat close, London should continue his recent success.

The Bucs have been quite generous to opposing wide receivers this year, and they’ve allowed a boatload of catches to perimeter receivers in particular. Oh, in that game a few weeks back, London caught 12 of 13 targets for 154 yards and a touchdown.

Stefon Diggs, Houston Texans - DraftKings: $7,500 | FanDuel: $8,500

Tank Dell has looked off this year, and while the entire Houston offensive unit looked out of sync last week, things should be better this week against the Colts. While they haven’t allowed a boatload of catches or yards out of the slot, they have struggled to keep receivers lined up in the slot out of the end zone.

There are five corners or safeties, per Pro Football Focus, who have allowed at least three receiving scores while in slot coverage this season, and two of them (Nick Cross, Kenny Moore) are on the Colts. Diggs goes into the slot the most for this Houston offense, and C.J. Stroud has been dominant at home and against AFC South opponents for his career. See for yourself:

  • Stroud at home: 311.1 YPG, 21:5 TD/INT ratio
  • Stroud vs. AFC South: 289.1 YPG, 13:0 TD/INT ratio
  • Stroud vs. IND: 294.0 YPG, 6:0 TD/INT ratio

After a disappointing offensive showing last week, expect the Texans to come out firing on all cylinders and attempt to whoop up on a divisional foe at home, quelling any questions or concerns about the offense.

Jayden Reed, Green Bay Packers - DraftKings: $6,700 | FanDuel: $8,100

Reed may only have 38 receiving yards over his last two games, but he could be in line for a big day against Jacksonville. The Jaguars have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game to opposing receivers this season, and they have allowed considerable damage to slot receivers (as well as perimeter receivers).

While Jarrian Jones has played better of late, he’s allowed 71.4 percent of his targets in slot coverage to be caught, per PFF, and he’s allowed the fifth-most YAC. Reed is a dynamic playmaker, and I’ll bet on his talent against this Jacksonville secondary I’ve picked on all year long.

NFL DFS WR Mid-Tier Picks For NFL Week 8

Romeo Doubs, Green Bay Packers - DraftKings: $5,700 | FanDuel: $6,100

Per Fantasy Points, there’s only one receiver for the Packers who has an 80+ percent route share in each game they played in this year, and that is Doubs. Of course, he missed the team’s Week 5 game, but other than that, he’s a stalwart on the field, and over the last two weeks since his return, he leads all Packers in targets, receptions, yards, and receiving touchdowns.

Jordan Love has a 148.8 passer rating when targeting Doubs over the last two weeks, and Doubs is your WR6 over the last two weeks. Doubs should feast on a Jacksonville defense that has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points per game to receivers this year.

DJ Moore, Chicago Bears - DraftKings: $6,600 | FanDuel: $6,600

While everyone is excited about Keenan Allen’s two touchdowns the last time the Bears took the field, and Rome Odunze’s breakout, don’t overlook the true WR1 for this team… DJ Moore. Over the team’s last three games, it’s Moore who leads the way in targets, receptions and fantasy points for this Bears squad, and he’s the only receiver with a 20+ percent target share over the team’s last three games.

Washington boasts one of the worst secondaries in football, and whenever Moore is lined up from Benjamin St-Juste, expect Caleb Williams to look Moore’s way. St-Juste has allowed a 111.4 passer rating when targeted this season, not to mention the seventh-most yards, and three receiving scores.

Chicago uses the running backs a ton, and Cole Kmet has come on a bit, but don’t be mistaken, Moore is set to dominate in this matchup. We just need Washington to keep it close, regardless of who is under center.

Amari Cooper, Buffalo Bills - DraftKings: $6,000 | FanDuel: $7,100

Sure, it’s a bit hard to trust Cooper as he had a smaller role in his team debut, but despite playing only about one-third of the snaps, he caught four of five targets for 66 yards and a touchdown. Being targeted five times on 19 snaps is a healthy number, and his snap share should only rise as he continues to have more time in his new digs.

It’s a great matchup this week against a banged-up Seattle secondary, and Seattle loves to play in higher-scoring games (48+ points in four straight). If Cooper plays half the snaps, he’s going for 16+ fantasy points this week, especially if the Seattle secondary is without Riq Woolen (again) and others.

Xavier Worthy, Kansas City Chiefs - DraftKings: $6,200 | FanDuel: $7,200

Worthy has tantalizing upside as he can run past anyone in the NFL, but a bevy of injuries to the Kansas City receiving core is going to push Worthy’s importance higher and higher. Sure, he has just six receptions on 14 targets over the last two weeks, but he’s the most dynamic receiving option the team has, and he could see a bunch of those underneath targets this offense thrives on.

JuJu Smith-Schuster only played a handful of snaps in that Week 7 contest before aggravating his hamstring injury, but in that game, it was Worthy who led the Chiefs in targets, air yards, and first read percentage, per Fantasy Points, all while being moved all over the field.

While Worthy only has two games with more than 50 total yards, the team needs its first round pick to step up, and this game against the Raiders is a great spot to force Worthy targets. The Raiders have played tight ends pretty tough this season, which is another reason to get Worthy going. Admittedly, I don’t love the price on FanDuel, however.

NFL Week 8 DFS WR Value Picks

Rashod Bateman, Baltimore Ravens - DraftKings: $4,300 | FanDuel: $5,700

10/25 UPDATE: Flowers didn't practice early in the week, but was able to log a limited practice on Friday. I still like Bateman, regardless of Flowers' availability.

Zay Flowers was a non-factor after hurting his ankle early in Week 7, so we’ll have to see what his status looks like for this divisional showdown against the Browns.

Bateman should feast on Martin Emerson Jr., who is PFF’s 102nd ranked corner (out of 103) on the year, not to mention the fact that he’s tied for the league lead in touchdowns allowed in coverage, and he’s surrendered a 124.7 passer rating when targeted.

If healthy, Zay Flowers has a great matchup out of the slot, but Bateman is a big play machine (as we saw against TB on MNF), and he might finally be putting it all together.

Christian Kirk, Jacksonville Jaguars - DraftKings: $5,500 | FanDuel: $5,900

Kirk has taken a backseat in recent weeks to the likes of Brian Thomas Jr and Gabe Davis, and I don’t love the fact that he’s been outscored by both of those two over the past two weeks, especially Davis!

However, Kirk’s target share during that span is right in line with the other two, and he’s been the primary read just as much as Thomas, per Fantasy Points. With Thomas dealing with Jaire Alexander, I like Kirk’s matchup out of the slot against Javon Bullard the best. Bullard has handled his own over the last couple of weeks, but opposing teams are going at him more often than Green Bay’s perimeter corners.

If you are stacking Packers and want to bring something back on the Jacksonville side, Kirk is the play for me, as Green Bay has been more generous to slot receivers than pass-catchers on the perimeter.

Ladd McConkey, Los Angeles Chargers - DraftKings: $5,100 | FanDuel: $6,000

McConkey only has one game this year with 15+ PPR points, but this week is a great opportunity to get that second 15+ point day. While Alontae Taylor has been solid in run defense, the same cannot be said for his coverage skills.

He leads the league in yards allowed in slot coverage, per PFF, including a 104.2 passer rating and 78.3 percent completion rate when targeted. McConkey has six or more targets in all but one game this year, and slot receivers have typically outperformed expectations when taking on the Saints this year.

Quarterback Justin Herbert’s passing volume has ticked up in the past two weeks, and that bodes well for McConkey, who figures to have the best matchup on the field for the Chargers in this one.

Tyler Boyd, Tennessee Titans - DraftKings: $3,900 | FanDuel: $4,900

I’m not exactly overly thrilled to be playing a Tennessee receiver, but slot receivers against the Detroit Lions have been valuable this season. While it isn’t saying much, Boyd is coming off his best game as a Titan, catching all five of his targets for 43 yards.

The Lions have allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to wideouts this season, and Amik Robertson, the team’s primary slot corner, ranks in the bottom five of corners and safeties in yards allowed in slot coverage, per PFF. The ceiling isn’t overly high here, but it’s a good matchup, and doing what he did last week gets you nearly 3x ROI on DraftKings in Week 8.

You could do far worse than Boyd in this price tier, especially if a few extra targets come his way following the Titans trading DeAndre Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Cedric Tillman, Cleveland Browns - DraftKings: $3,300 | FanDuel: $5,100

Tillman had a big Week 7, as he caught eight of his 12 targets for 81 yards in the first game since Amari Cooper was traded to Buffalo. He played 82 percent of the snaps in that game against Cincy, and in Week 8, the team will trust Jameis Winston under center.

Winston came in late in the fourth quarter against the Bengals, and he should be an upgrade to the team’s passing attack. Of Winston’s 11 pass attempts last week, Jerry Jeudy led the way with four targets, but Tillman was close behind with three targets (and a catch on the two point conversion attempt).

The Ravens have allowed the third-most fantasy points per game to receivers this season, and if there’s one thing we know about Winston, he’s not afraid to let it rip. Cleveland should be playing from behind, which will boost the passing volume, and Tillman can be a solid possession receiver who racks up points in PPR formats.

NFL DFS WR Fades For Week 8

Terry McLaurin, Washington Commanders - DraftKings: $6,900 | FanDuel: $7,000

Yes, the status of Jayden Daniels under center is unknown, but this goes deeper than McLaurin maybe being without his starting quarterback. This Chicago secondary is stingy, and they’ve only allowed four receivers to top 60 yards in a game this season.

Expect McLaurin to see a lot of Jaylon Johnson, who has allowed just over half of his targets to be caught and a miniscule 31.1 passer rating when targeted, per PFF.

There are other matchups to exploit, and if Washington trots out Marcus Mariota, you can’t play McLaurin with a backup QB against a Chicago defense that has allowed the seventh-fewest fantasy points per game to wide receivers in 2024.

NFL Week 8 WR Play Of The Week

ADDED 10/25: Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins - DraftKings: $7,000 | FanDuel: $7,600

Tua Tagovailoa is back, and that is when Tyreek Hill is at his best, and most explosive. It's been quite some time since Hill has been on our radar, but at this price point, how do you not play Hill with his massive upside? In the one full game Tagovailoa has played this season, albeit against Jacksonville, Hill caught seven balls for 130 yards and a touchdown. Down production in recent weeks have softened Hill's price in DFS, but with his regular quarterback under center, we likely won't see Hill this cheap again.

*RULED OUT* Tee Higgins, Cincinnati Bengals - DraftKings: $6,500 | FanDuel: $7,500

10/27 UPDATE: Higgins was ruled out for this matchup due to his late-week quad injury.

10/25 UPDATE: Higgins popped up on the Friday injury report with a quad issue. He was still able to practice in a limited capacity, but he is questionable for Sunday's contest.

I’ll never fault anyone for chasing Ja'Marr Chase’s upside, but Higgins is nearly matching Chase’s production over the last three weeks. While Chase is tied with Drake London for the WR1 over the last three weeks, Higgins is the WR4, and within 10 fantasy points of those two.

You get a significant discount on Higgins compared to Chase, and he gets to face the same Philadelphia defense as Chase, a defense that ranks in the bottom-third in fantasy points allowed to receivers. Higgins has a massive size advantage over the Philadelphia secondary, and he’s averaging nine targets per game on the season.

On DraftKings, Higgins being $2,000 cheaper than Chase is crazy, making Higgins an excellent cash game target.
