MLB DFS Value Plays June 16: Top DraftKings and FanDuel Picks
We made it to Friday! Let’s celebrate with some winning MLB DFS Lineups. There is one day baseball game with the Baltimore Orioles facing the Chicago Cubs at 2:20 PM EST, but then every other team is on the main slate kicking off at 7:05 PM EST, giving us a 14-game main slate today on both DraftKings and FanDuel. A lot of fun pitchers taking the mound, with Clayton Kershaw, Kevin Gausman, Joe Ryan, and Shane McClanahan highlighting the slate, but with some great value pitchers available as well. On the offensive side, there are plenty of teams to choose from but some of my favorites to target are the Atlanta Braves, Minnesota Twins, Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Angels, and the Toronto Blue Jays. With so many options to choose from, finding the best value plays can be overwhelming, so let’s dive into some of my favorite value options of the day!
MLB DFS Value Pitchers
Triston McKenzie, Cleveland Guardians (DraftKings: $8,600 / FanDuel: $10,500)
Triston McKenzie was electric in his first start striking out 10 batters and only allowing one hit and one walk through 5 innings against the Minnesota Twins. The next outing wasn’t quite as great, giving up 5 runs in 5 innings while striking out 5 against the Houston Astros. I am betting we see something closer to the first start than the second today against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Triston McKenzie has incredible stuff and can be an ace if he can stay healthy.
Rich Hill, Pittsburgh Pirates (DraftKings: $6,700 / FanDuel: ??)
The 43-year-old veteran continues to deliver quality innings for the Pittsburgh Pirates this season. He is the oldest active player in the majors, but that hasn’t stopped him from continuing to put up some great starts. He is still striking out almost a batter an inning and has struck out 6 or more in 4 of his last 5 starts, including a season-high 9 strikeouts against the Texas Rangers. The Milwaukee Brewers strike out a lot, and this could be a great spot for Rich Hill to put up another great outing and strike out a lot of batters, and you get him for insanely cheap.
MLB DFS Value Hitters
Josh Naylor, 1B Cleveland Guardians (DraftKings: $3,300 / FanDuel: $3,100)
Josh Naylor is on a 14-game hitting streak right now, and of those 14 games, he has multiple hits in 9 of them. He only has one home run over this streak, but Naylor has fantastic power, and the home runs will come if he keeps hitting the ball this well. He is also slashing .309/.354/.488 against right-handers on the season, so while Gallen isn’t the easiest matchup, he has a great chance to keep this streak going today with how good of a hitter he is against righties.
Kyle Farmer, 2B/SS Minnesota Twins (DraftKings: $2,700 / FanDuel: $2,500)
I went with Kyle Farmer yesterday, and he disappointed with just one single and nothing else. I am jumping right back to him again today with an even better matchup getting to face the lefty Tyler Alexander for the Detroit Tigers. If he can’t deliver in this matchup, then I may be passing on Kyle Farmer from here on out, but I think he can deliver value today and keep himself out of the “never play” zone for me.
Carlos Correa, SS Minnesota Twins (DraftKings: $4,300 / FanDuel: $3,200)
Carlos Correa is back to being Carlos Correa. He is on a 7-game hitting streak over which he has 3 home runs, 3 doubles, and a triple. That is with a slash line of .321/.387/.821 over that stretch. While he needs to keep this going for his season numbers to get back to good levels, he looks dialed in at the plate, and when he is hitting well, he is one of the best hitters in all of baseball. At this price, I don’t see why you wouldn’t jump into his hot streak getting to face Tyler Alexander and the Detroit Tigers today.
Jack Suwinski, OF Pittsburgh Pirates (DraftKings: $3,600 / FanDuel: $3,500)
Jack Suwinski continues to be a masher against right-handed pitchers this year, still holding a 1.015 OPS against them. He has 15 home runs this season already, all off of right-handed pitchers. Julio Teheran has a 1.48 ERA and a 0.95 WHIP through his first 4 starts, but that isn’t going to last. He has a 4.48 xFIP and a 6.5% HR/FB. The odds are that Teheran is going to see some regression real quick. I could see it coming today against the Pirates, and Suwinski is a great candidate to do some damage.
Mickey Moniak, OF Los Angeles Angels (DraftKings: $3,200 / FanDuel: $2,900)
Mickey Moniak has slowed down a little bit from his hot start, but he is still hitting the ball quite well. He has 2 home runs in his last 4 starts, including one in his 3 hit game yesterday. While he is finding himself out of the top spot of the lineup in most games now, he still provides really good value at this price if he can continue to hit like this. He is still slashing .319/.347/.681 on the season and has 6 home runs and 2 steals already, which would put him on a pace for 42 home runs and 14 steals over a 150-game stretch at that rate.
