MLB DFS Picks & Daily Fantasy Playbook Today, September 10

We have a lot of really great mid-tier pitching, but we can't say the same about the top tier. Outside of Pablo Lopez, I don't have a lot of interest in the top tier. David Peterson, Spencer Arrighetti, and Zac Gallen are all great mid-tier options though.

At the dish, we have numerous bats to spend up on considering we have 22 teams on the main slate. Amongst the best is Jose Ramirez, Bobby Witt, Shohei Ohtani, and Aaron Judge.

That said, let's take a look at the MLB DFS projections while we bust into our favorite MLB DFS picks today!

MLB Weather Today, 9/10

This game is going to be very cool. The temperature is going to be in the 50s and they already play on the bay. It’s going to be a good bump for pitchers.

Recommended MLB DFS Starting Pitchers

Top Options For Strikeouts

Best Odds For A Win

Core MLB DFS Pitchers

Pablo Lopez, Minnesota Twins

Lopez is my top pitcher today by a fairly wide margin. He has the best strikeout odds, best win odds, and multiple sportsbooks have his outs line set at 18.5. He faces an Angels team that can only beat him by hitting home runs, which is on the table of course, but Lopez has been lights out over his last 10 starts pitching to a 2.27 ERA. He's my top MLB DFS pick at SP.

Zac Gallen, Arizona Diamondbacks

There have been few pitchers in the game more inconsistent than Zac Gallen but man his ceiling has been so high lately. Twice he’s tossed six-inning shutouts with nine strikeouts and has topped 30 DKP. He faces a depleted Rangers offense that ranks in the bottom half of the league in all major categories against right-handed pitching. It’s a ceiling play, one I’d only deploy in tournaments.

David Peterson, New York Mets

What’s interesting is this has become a really good strikeout spot for left-handed pitchers as the season has gone on and Peterson, who wasn’t a great strikeout arm, is coming off 11 strikeouts. Over the last month, the Blue Jays have struck out 27.2% of the time against lefties while ranking 26th in OPS and wOBA and 23rd in wRC+. Peterson’s pitching as well as anyone on this slate and is in a great matchup to boot. Also, there’s a chance he gets a Blue Jays lineup sans Vladimir Guerrero

Spencer Arrighetti, Houston Astros

Yes. Spencer Arrighetti was shelled last start. Also, that was the last start and we’re moving on from it. Oakland’s offense is potent for sure, but they also have a very high strikeout rate at 25.1% this year, which is the third-highest in baseball against right-handed pitching. Despite that poor start his last time out, Arrighetti’s ceiling has been fully on display as he’s struck out 10+ batters in three of his last six starts. Massive ceiling for tournaments.

Aaron Civale, Milwaukee Brewers

Civale is my favorite spend-down pitching option and it’s not even close. There’s heavy juice on his under 2.5 runs and the Giants have one of the lowest implied run totals of the day at 3.6 runs. I’m very intrigued by Civale as a pay-down option when you factor in his strikeout upside in this spot too. Over the last month, the Giants strikeout at a 28.1% clip against righties, which is the second-highest mark in baseball. They’re also 26th in OPS and wRC+ and 27th in wOBA during that span. Then you put the weather factor into the equation and it’s a smash play at this price.

Recommended MLB DFS Hitters

Highest Expected Run Totals

Core MLB DFS Hitters

Gunnar Henderson, Cedric Mullins, Anthony Santander, Baltimore Orioles

I really like the Orioles left-handed bats today considering how bad Kutter Crawford has been against them, especially in the power department. All three guys have ISOs of at least .193 against right-handed pitching and that's where Crawford has struggled the most; left-handed power.

Jose Ramirez, Josh Naylor, Andres Gimenez, Kyle Manzardo, Cleveland Guardians

I love the Guardians today as they very well could be the highest scoring team of the day. They're second in implied total and their matchup is great. Jonathan Cannon, starting for CWS, has been hammered by left-handed bats and the Guardians have a plethora of them to throw at him. Ramirez is their best player, Naylor has been elite against righties this year, Gimenez is having the best stretch of his season, and Manzardo is very cheap power.

Francisco Lindor, New York Mets

I like all the Mets' lefties, but I like Lindor the most. Chris Bassitt, if you can believe it, has gotten worse against left-handed hitters as the season has gone on. Over the last 30 days, lefties have a .362 ISO and .524 wOBA against him. Lindor has very solid numbers against righties posting a .197 ISO and .352 wOBA but the expected stuff is WAY higher. Lindor is one of my top MLB DFS picks of the day.

Royce Lewis, Edouard Julien, Jose Miranda, Minnesota Twins

It was pretty surprising to see the Twins with the days highest implied team total, but the Angels pitching staff as a whole isn't very good. Griffin Canning has been better of late, sure, but overall he's been bad. He's been worse against righties over the last 90 days allowing a .229 ISO and .369 wOBA. Royce Lewis has a .296 ISO against righties this year and Miranda's at .198. Julien is mixed in because he's a really cheap potential leadoff hitter with power.

Jasson Dominguez, New York Yankees

A player this guy will only be this price for a while. He has elite power and is a fast dude as well, so the power/speed combo at a sub-4K price tag jumps off the page.

MJ Melendez, Kansas City Royals

Melendez has been an elite left-handed hitting player this year when facing right-handers. He has a .240 ISO and .326 wOBA against righties and sicne the All-Star break, he has a near .500 SLG%, .200 ISO, and .336 wOBA. Marcus Stroman has struggled this year with lefties allowing a .184 ISO and .355 wOBA.

Andrew Benintendi, Chicago White Sox

I'm not opposed to playing lefty White Sox today. I'm actually very interested in them for a cheap stack or some one offs. Benintendi is at the top of the list facing against Ben Lively who's stunk against lefties. Over the last 30 days, lefties have a .261 ISO and .416 wOBA against him. Since the All-Star break, Benintendi has a .500 SLG%, .241 ISO, and .357 wOBA.
