2025 Player Outlook
The real question when it comes to Royce Lewis is how high would he go in drafts if you were guaranteed a full season's workload? He's been limited to 58 and 82 games respectively in the last two seasons, but when he's been on the field, the fantasy production has been quite noteworthy. In 2023, he hit 15 home runs with six stolen bases and a .309 average, and in 2024, while he hit just .233, he had 32 XBH in 325 plate appearances. His average exit velocity dipped last season, but the barrel rate remained strong, and he's a tough guy to pitch to, as he posted a .495 SLG against breaking pitches last year, and he hit fastballs at a .343 clip in 2023. A lengthier trip to the IL isn't quite baked into the price, but as long as he can avoid a lengthy stay on the injured list, Lewis could flirt with 30 home runs and a .260 average in 2025. High risk, high reward pick.

Royce Lewis (hamstring) will do some baserunning work Thursday.
It’s being described as “light” baserunning for Lewis. The 25-year-old has been on the injured list since the start of the season with his left hamstring strain, and while there’s still no concrete timetable for his return, it’s obviously a positive development that he’s able to run with the injury.
Twins’ president of baseball operations Derek Falvey told reporters on Sunday that Royce Lewis (hamstring) has been hitting and doing some light running as he continues his recovery from a left hamstring strain.
Falvey noted, “No change in his status. He just needs to continue to progress.” Lewis was initially given a timetable of around six-to-eight weeks and is now into his third week of recovery. It sounds like things are progressing as they should and he’s on track with that initial estimate, though the Twins are likely to take a cautious approach here lessen the risk of re-injury.
An MRI confirmed that Royce Lewis has a ‘moderate’ left hamstring strain.
Lewis left Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury, and the imaging confirmed the strain. The 25-year-old has shown upper-echelon upside when healthy enough to play, but this is yet another setback for the former first-overall pick. He did tell reporters that he believed this injury isn’t close to as serious as the quad injury that sidelined him early in 2024. With Lewis out of action for the foreseeable future, it could be Brooks Lee at third for the Twins.
Twins announced 3B Royce Lewis left Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury.
No surprise here as Lewis pulled up lame half down the first base line and appeared to grab the back of his thigh. While the severity of the injury is unclear at this time, this certainly puts Lewis’ availability for Opening Day in jeopardy. The 25-year-old third baseman is no stranger to missed time due to injury over the course of his career and unfortunately he’s set to miss some time yet again.
