Welcome to another day of MLB DFS here at Fantasy Alarm. We get a great 8-game early slate on DraftKings kicking off at 4:05 PM EST.

We have another great slate of baseball as we wind down to the upcoming All-Star break. Pitching is headlined by Grayson Rodriguez and Nathan Eovaldi at the top, while the top-priced hitters are Jose Ramirez and Aaron Judge. The Orioles vs Yankees game could get interesting as the benches cleared in Friday night’s game following an incident that saw Heston Kjerstad get hit in the head by a pitch.

MLB Weather: Today, 7/13

Oakland Athletics vs Philadelphia Phillies

There is a small chance some showers approach the ballpark, but nothing severe.

Kansas City Royals vs Boston Red Sox

There is rain in the area that is expected to clear up by the first pitch. Keep an eye on the forecast in case things change.

MLB DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

A case can be made for many pitchers on this slate, so it depends on whether you have the salary left over and where your builds take you. I gravitate towards Andrew Abbott and Christian Scott to take advantage of the bad offenses they are matched up against.

For stacking, I have an interest in the Reds, Nationals, Phillies, and Rangers. Dallas Keuchel is on the mound against the Nationals coming off a game where he walked five, struck out no one, and allowed zero runs. The Nationals have a bunch of left-handed hitters but they are prone to make things difficult for opposing pitchers and if he’s walking that many batters, he could be in for a rough day.

Core MLB DFS Pitchers

Grayson Rodriguez, Baltimore Orioles

Grayson Rodriguez is in an interesting spot here hosting the Yankees at home. There’s always some level of risk attacking a team with Juan Soto and Aaron Judge but New York ranks in the bottom half of the league over the past 30 days in most offensive categories and Grayson has looked great. He’s had eight strikeouts in three of his last four starts and quality starts in four of his last five.

Andrew Abbott, Cincinnati Reds

Coming off one of his best starts of the season, Andrew Abbott finds himself in another elite spot against the Miami Marlins. The Marlins rank 30th in almost every offensive category against southpaws and hold a 22.3% strikeout rate. We continue to target this abysmal offense and it’s almost to the point where you can comfortably roster any pitcher against them.

Gavin Williams, Cleveland Guardians

Gavin Williams recovered from his season debut stumble with 5.1 innings of scoreless baseball on five strikeouts. He’s in a decent spot here against Tampa Bay who rank in the middle of the league in most offensive categories over the past month while holding a 23.6% strikeout rate. He doesn’t have the highest ceiling but should be in line for a quality start at a good price tag on this slate.

Christian Scott, New York Mets

Christian Scott is my favorite value pitcher on the slate. You can take a shot at Tyler Phillips against Oakland, but Scott gets the Rockies in New York and their road numbers are abysmal. Over the last 30 days, and for the season in general, Colorado ranks in the bottom five in most offensive categories and in the top three in strikeout rate. Scott had four or fewer strikeouts in his last five starts, but Colorado has a 29.5% strikeout rate on the road since June 12th and pitchers have been mowing them down all week.

Note: Will Be Updated as Official Starting Lineups Are Released

Rece Hinds, OF, Cincinnati Reds

Can this man be stopped? Rece Hinds has only played five games but he is doing it all and at a cheap price tag. In those five games, he has nine hits, three home runs, eight RBI, and two stolen bases. He’s had a high strikeout rate, above 30%, at every level but it has not mattered to this point. He’s coming off a grand slam on Friday and he has been an auto play since being called up.

Brandon Nimmo, OF, New York Mets

Brandon Nimmo has been awesome of late, with hits in seven straight games. Over his last 10, he has a .525 SLG and has recorded three home runs, 10 RBIs, and two stolen bases. He’s matched up against Ryan Feltner who has allowed a .374 wOBA, .312 BA, and 515 SLG against lefties.

Lane Thomas, OF, Washington Nationals

Lane Thomas has an expensive price tag, but this is the right split. Against southpaws, he’s batting .355 with a 1.004 OPS, .211 ISO, and three home runs. Dallas Keuchel has not pitched much over the last three seasons but has allowed at least a .500 SLG to righties in all three. Lane also comes with a ton of speed, having 22 stolen bases on the season and Dallas has walked eight batters across 13 innings, so the upside is there.

Corey Seager, SS, Texas Rangers

Corey Seager is crushing the ball right now. Over his last 10 games, he’s batting .368 with a 1.244 OPS, four home runs, and 12 RBI. He’s an elite hitter at a loaded shortstop position, and relative to the rest of the position, he comes at a sizable discount for what he can and has been doing. Spencer Arrighetti is on the mound for the Astros and his 4.99 BB/9 should give Seager plenty of chances to get on base or knock someone in.

Jonathan India, 2B, Cincinnati Reds

Just when Jonathan India looked like he was starting to cool off, he is heating up again with two home runs over his last three games. He has a .872 OPS over his last 10 games and is in another great spot at his home park. Edward Cabrera is on the mound for the Marlins and despite the talent, he’s given up a ton of walks this season and has allowed a home run in four straight games.
