Marlins acquired RHP Tyler Phillips from the Phillies for cash considerations.
Phillips will join the Marlins as a multi-inning option for their injury-riddled pitching staff. The 27-year-old could make starts for Miami, but shouldn’t make them for your fantasy team.
Robert Murray of FanSided reports that the Marlins are acquiring RHP Tyler Phillips from the Phillies.
Phillips was designated for assignment Sunday. The 27-year-old will be a multi-inning option for Miami to open the year, but even if he was a starter, he’d be a player to stay away from in all eligible formats. Obviously the ones he’s not eligible for, too.

Phillips has been booted from Philadelphia’s 40-man roster to make room for reliever Carlos Hernández, who was claimed off waivers from the Royals. There’s a decent chance he goes unclaimed and remains with the Phillies as extra relief depth.

Phillips was supposed to stay in the rotation for more than one turn, but he was so bad in getting knocked out in the first inning by the Blue Jays last night that he’s heading back to Triple-A now. Kolby Allard might get another shot in that spot this weekend.
