MLB Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 6/19

We started to turn things around with some great bets laid out in Tuesday’s MLB predictions. We may have been let down in the end by the San Diego Padres, but we nailed a trio of strikeout props and then benefitted from the Minnesota Twins bats, which have been dominant lately. But, there is still a deficit to work through, so no sleep for the weary!

Diamondbacks vs. Nationals Prediction: Wednesday, June 19

Yes, I am very much aware that this game takes place in the afternoon and daytime baseball hasn’t been kind to me and my MLB best bets at all. However, we just can’t pass up the opportunity to pick on Patrick Corbin in this matchup. The Diamondbacks are absolutely on fire right now, posting a .382 wOBA with a .214 ISO over their last six games and remain one of the strongest lineups against lefthanded pitching.

In fact, against southpaws, Arizona still ranks second in wOBA (.343) – they have a .327 BABIP so you know they’re putting the ball in-play – and they have a .171 ISO, so they’re also hitting for decent power. Just take a look at their top players against lefties and look at how their props are juiced up. We’ll take the higher line for Ketel Marte since the odds are good. I know we don’t love BvP data but come on – he’s 5-for-9 with two homers and four RBI against Corbin. Let’s attack!

Red Sox vs. Blue Jays Prediction: Wednesday, June 19

We’ve got a bit of a pitching mismatch here as Blue Jays righthander Kevin Gausman squares off against Brayan Bello of the Boston Red Sox. While Gausman has had a few hiccups this season, he’s had four quality starts in his last six outings and I’m looking to him to prevent the sweep at home.

I’m not saying he shuts their lineup down – they’ve been crazy hot over the past week – but in looking at the first-five money line, the advantage is tipping way in favor of Toronto. We can’t get decent value on that bet, so we’ll lean on the run line and get better odds. All we’re doing is losing the ability to push on a minus-160 bet? I’m fine with that, especially for the home team.

On the other side is Bello who pounds the strike zone, doesn’t have great swing-and-miss stuff and is facing a team that doesn’t strike out often and makes plenty of contact. The Blue Jays bats have been middle-of-the-road all season, but today’s MLB picks expect them to continue their awakening and have that led by Vladimir Guerrero Jr who – yes, I’m going to hit you with some BvP again – is 7-for-14 with two home runs and six RBI against the righthander.

Astros vs. White Sox Prediction: Wednesday, June 19

Outstanding pitching matchup in this one between Garrett Crochet and Hunter Brown and, even though the Astros’ numbers against lefthanded pitching look good, I’m still expecting the score to stay down in this one. Houston is still without Kyle Tucker and now Yordan Alvarez is tending to a personal matter and is unlikely to be in the lineup tonight. Other than Jose Altuve, there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of concern in that lineup for Crochet.

On the flip side, Hunter Brown is finally doing what we expected before the season opened. If you caught my most recent Fantasy Baseball Stock Watch, then you know exactly why I’m so interested in adding onto my MLB predictions here. If you missed it, just take a look at his progression from that disastrous 9.78 ERA in April to the 1.42 ERA he’s posted here in the month of June. This White Sox lineup is not powerful at all.
