Brayan Bello allowed one run over five innings on Tuesday in a win over the Mariners.
Red Sox activated RHP Brayan Bello from the 15-day injured list.
Back from a shoulder strain, Bello, who had a 7.07 ERA and a 21/4 K/BB in 14 innings over the course of four rehab starts, will make his season debut against the Mariners tonight.
Brayan Bello (shoulder) will be activated to start Tuesday’s series opener against the Mariners.
Bello will make his season debut at Fenway Park after striking out seven and allowing four runs over 4 1/3 innings last Wednesday for Double-A Portland in his final rehab outing. The move pushes lefty Sean Newcomb back to later in the series. The 25-year-old righty shouldn’t have any restrictions from a workload standpoint after getting his pitch count up to 71 in his final rehab start. He doesn’t offer significant strikeout upside, but there’s some appeal for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues.
Brayan Bello (shoulder) struck out seven and allowed four runs over 4 1/3 innings on Wednesday in a minor league rehab start for Double-A Portland.
Bello threw 71 pitches (51 strikes) in his likely final rehab tune-up before making his return to Boston’s rotation early next week. The 25-year-old righty has been sidelined since spring training recovering from a shoulder strain. He should be rostered in deeper mixed leagues.
