Athletics vs Orioles Prediction Today, 4/27
The Baltimore Orioles feature one of the best offenses in baseball this season, especially in the American League. The O’s lead the AL in runs, home runs, and OPS so far with multiple hitters starting strong, including Adley Rutschman, Gunnar Henderson, Colton Cowser, and Jordan Westburg. This is a dangerous lineup right now and Baltimore’s bats are the basis of today’s picks.
The Orioles should put up plenty of runs today against Oakland Athletics starter JP Sears. The left-hander has been decent in his past few outings, but his 4.28 FIP and 5.36 xFIP suggest some negative regression is coming to the 3.38 ERA. This matchup is a tough one for Sears as Baltimore crushes lefties. The O’s are a top-5 offense in the split this year with a .354 wOBA, .186 ISO, and 135 wRC+. Over the past 10 days, they’ve hammered southpaws to the tune of a .456 wOBA, .260 ISO, and 207 wRC+.
Bank on Baltimore to set the tone for a higher-scoring game. Oakland’s bullpen has also struggled lately with a 4.64 ERA over the past week. Let’s take the over on the Orioles team total to start, but we’re targeting the over for the full game and first five innings too.
Oakland’s offense isn’t exactly threatening but this is more of a fade of Orioles starter Cole Irvin, who has a 4.64 ERA and 1.45 WHIP through four starts. Irvin’s numbers look better because of his 6.2 scoreless innings last time out vs Kansas City, but the left-hander won’t often replicate that. The A’s actually have solid numbers vs lefties recently with a .331 wOBA, .205 ISO, and low 16.5% K rate over the past week.

Nationals vs Marlins Prediction Today, 4/27
A few weeks ago, Washington Nationals rookie pitcher Mitchell Parker was virtually unknown among casual baseball fans. Well, it’s time to take notice of the 24-year-old lefty who’s off to a strong start to his MLB career.
Parker allowed two runs over five strong innings against the Dodgers in his debut. Then, he followed it up with seven shutout innings with eight strikeouts against the Astros. Those are two dangerous lineups with plenty of veteran hitters that Parker held in check. His 12:0 K:BB ratio thus far is also very impressive.
The young southpaw doesn’t throw hard with a 92 mph fastball, but he’s still been very effective. Parker’s fastball has just a .056 batting average and .045 wOBA against so far. The curveball, though, is a real weapon with a 32% whiff rate with some major bite from the left side.
Though Parker will likely see some worse outings moving forward, this is a very favorable matchup. The Miami Marlins have the MLB’s worst offense vs left-handed pitching this season with a .236 wOBA, 46 wRC+, .079 ISO, and .193 BA in the split. It’ll likely take a much tougher lineup for Parker to see some regression.
On the other side, let’s bank on the Nationals offense to provide enough run support. Marlins starter Edward Cabrera has looked good so far this year, but this is a tough matchup for the right-hander. The Washington offense is among league’s top-10 vs righties with a .329 wOBA, .160 ISO, and .736 OPS this season.
