Yu Darvish (elbow) threw a bullpen session on Monday.
There haven’t been a ton of updates concerning Darvish’s potential return timeline lately. The 38-year-old reportedly touched 90 mph in his latest throwing session and is slated for another bullpen session later this week. At this point, his return to San Diego’s rotation doesn’t appear imminent.
Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) will undergo X-rays after being struck on the right elbow by a comebacker during Tuesday’s minor league rehab start for Triple-A Nashville.
Woodruff simply can’t catch a break. The 32-year-old former fantasy ace is heading back to Milwaukee to undergo additional testing after his latest rehab outing was cut short when he was hit by a 108-mph comebacker with two outs in the second inning. There should be a definitive update on his status at some point later this week.
Colton Cowser is in center field and batting sixth on Tuesday against the Mariners.
Cowser, who was activated from the injured list earlier this week, is back in Baltimore’s lineup for the first time since March 30 when he suffered a fractured left thumb on a head-first slide into first base.
Steelers TE Donald Parham suffered a torn Achilles during the team’s OTAs on Tuesday and will likely miss the 2025 season.
After spending four seasons with the Chargers, Parham spent the 2024 season with the Broncos’ practice squad before signing a one-year deal with the Steelers this offseason. His Steelers tenure may have come to a close on Tuesday as the 27-year-old suffered a torn Achilles, likely ending his 2025 season. Though Parham was the No. 3 tight end on the roster, Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith frequently uses multiple tight ends and the team will look to add another. ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported that Pittsburgh has continued to inquire about Dolphins TE Jonnu Smith, renewing interest in wake of Parham’s injury.
Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio indicated CB Cooper DeJean will also get opportunities at safety.
DeJean primarily played nickelback as a rookie last season, tallying six passes defended and three fumble recoveries. At Eagles OTAs, Fangio said DeJean will be in the mix at safety for certain personnel groups. The Eagles defensive coordinator said, “it will be determined by what’s best for him and what’s best for the team... he’s capable of playing corner and he’s capable of playing safety.” DeJean has versatility in the secondary and may be utilized at multiple positions depending on the defensive coverage Fangio wants to run.
Kirby Yates (hamstring) will face hitters on Wednesday in a live batting practice session.
With Tanner Scott continuing to struggle, Yates could wind up factoring into the closing mix for Los Angeles when he’s ready to return from the injured list in a couple weeks.
