Carlos Correa (ankle) is back in the lineup for Sunday’s first-half finale against the Pirates.
Correa is back at shortstop and batting cleanup on Sunday afternoon at Target Field following a one-game absence due to a mild right ankle sprain. It’s an extremely encouraging development for Minnesota, and fantasy managers, that he’s feeling well enough to get back in the lineup ahead of next week’s extended All-Star break. It looked scary initially when the 30-year-old got hurt on Friday night, but he should be a full-go for the start of the second half.
Jake Burger (quad) is back in the lineup for Sunday’s first-half finale against the division-rival Astros.
Burger is back at DH and batting seventh on Sunday afternoon following a brief one-game absence with left quad discomfort. The 29-year-old corner infielder has been snake-bitten by injuries during his Rangers debut. Hopefully next week’s All-Star break gives him some extended downtime to rest and recover.
Thairo Estrada (thumb) remains out of the lineup for Sunday’s first-half finale against the Reds.
Estrada will sit out his fifth straight game to close out the first half as he continues to deal with a lingering left thumb issue. The 29-year-old infielder should benefit from the extended All-Star break, which gives him a chance to recover in time for the outset of the second half. It’ll be Kyle Farmer at second base on Sunday in his ongoing absence.
Jasson DomÃnguez is batting sixth on Sunday against the Cubs.
DomÃnguez finds himself batting sixth during Sunday’s first-half finale with veteran Paul Goldschmidt moving up to the leadoff spot to face formidable Cubs southpaw Shota Imanaga. Ben Rice is on the bench for the second consecutive game against a left-hander. The other notable development here is that red-hot Cody Bellinger is batting second once again to close out the first half.
Braves selected the contract of RHP Wander Suero from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Suero has bounced around the last few years, making six appearances between the Astros and Dodgers at the big-league level since 2021. The well-traveled 33-year-old reliever will likely operate in low-leverage spots for Atlanta.
Braves optioned RHP Daysbel Hernández to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Hernández returns to the minors after handing out three free passes during Saturday’s relief outing against the Cardinals. The 28-year-old righty has pitched three of the last four days, so Atlanta has decided to swap him out for a fresh arm ahead of Sunday’s series finale in St. Louis. He should return at some point in the early stages of the second half.
