Lars Nootbaar is hitting fifth and playing left field against Atlanta on Friday.
Nootbaar was removed from Thursday’s game as a precaution due to rib soreness, but the 27-year-old is good to go against Grant Holmes and the Atlanta bullpen.
HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto reports the Hawks have signed Nikola Djurišić to a three-year, $5.95 million deal.
Selected by the Heat with the 43rd pick in the 2024 draft, Djurišić’s draft rights were included in a three-team deal between Miami, Atlanta and Houston. The 21-year-old center saw all of his game time in the G League last season, appearing in 32 games for Atlanta’s affiliate. Djurišić’s contract includes a $1.27 million guarantee for the 2025-26 season, and he’ll look to provide additional depth behind Kristaps Porzingis and Onyeka Okongwu.
Nic Enright will be the 27th player for the Guardians’ doubleheader against the White Sox.
Enright adds some bullpen depth for the twin-billing. The Guardians will either then send the right-hander back to Triple-A, or need to him to the active roster.
Julio Rodríguez announced that he will not take part in the 2025 All Star Game.
Rodríguez was a bit of a surprise inclusion to the game, but the metrics suggest he’s been one of the best outfielders in the American League because of his defense and wheels. The 24-year-old released a statement that said that decision was made to take care of his body and “fully prepare” for the second half of the 2025 season. A replacement should be announced shortly.
Astros selected the contract of INF Brice Matthews from Triple-A Sugar Land.
DL Hall will be the opener for the Brewers on Friday against the Nationals.
Hall has worked in this function before, and went three innings in his previous outings. The left-hander will likely get around one turn through the lineup before giving way to Quinn Priester. Hall still has a chance to be a starter someday, but he won’t get deep enough into games to qualify for wins right now.
