Nationals recalled RHP Andry Lara from Double-A Harrisburg.
Lara looked sharp in his lone relief appearance earlier this season and figures to get a more extended look for the rebuilding Nationals during the second half. He’ll be available out of the bullpen for Sunday’s first-half finale against the Brewers.
Marlins recalled INF Graham Pauley from Triple-A Jacksonville.
Pauley joins Miami’s infield mix ahead of Sunday’s first-half finale against the Orioles with Connor Norby heading to the injured list with wrist inflammation. The 24-year-old infielder got into 28 games earlier this season with the Marlins, batting .210/.261/.284 with zero homers and five RBI across 89 plate appearances.
Marlins placed INF Connor Norby on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to July 12, with left wrist inflammation.
The severity of the issue remains a bit unclear, but there should be some additional clarity at some point in the coming days once Norby undergoes some additional testing and imaging. The 25-year-old infielder heads to the shelf after suffering the injury during Friday’s game against his former team. He finishes the first half batting .241/.289/.364 with six homers, 26 RBI and seven steals in 273 plate appearances over 72 games. There should be a definitive return timetable at some point in the coming days.
Mets activated LHP Sean Manaea from the 60-day injured list.
Manaea will make his long-awaited season debut during Sunday’s first-half finale against the Royals piggybacking with starter Clay Holmes. The 33-year-old southpaw missed the first couple months of the season recovering from an oblique strain and several setbacks during his rehabilitation process. He was outstanding last year in his Mets debut and figures to make a significant impact for fantasy managers over the final two-plus months of the season.
Mets optioned RHP Austin Warren to Triple-A Syracuse.
Warren’s latest stint with the Mets lasted roughly 48 hours as he heads back to the minors to make room for Sean Manaea to be activated from the injured list.
Shane McClanahan (triceps) will make a minor league rehab start on Sunday for Triple-A Durham.
Here we go. McClanahan kicked off his extended rehab assignment earlier this week with a scoreless frame in the Rookie-level Florida Complex League. The 28-year-old former fantasy ace will need a few additional outings to build up his pitch count and stamina before making his season debut, likely in early August. He’s been on the shelf since spring training recovering from triceps inflammation and hasn’t pitched in the majors since undergoing Tommy John surgery back in 2023.
