NFL DFS Week 16 RB Coach: Jahmyr Gibbs, Bijan Robinson & Josh Jacobs
Published: Dec 18, 2024
Welcome to the NFL DFS Week 16 RB Coach article!
While Derrick Henry and Joe Mixon didn’t come close to earning their top tier NFL DFS RB salaries in Week 15, Rico Dowdle, Josh Jacobs, Kyren Williams, Aaron Jones and Bijan Robinson all performed well and ended up being good recommendations.
NFL DFS Week 16 RB Coach For FanDuel & DraftKings Fantasy
As we look ahead to Week 16 the competition will be fierce as those fantasy football managers who didn’t make the playoffs in their season long leagues turn their attention to creating NFL DFS lineups.
Don’t worry, there are plenty of NFL DFS RBs recommended in this article that will help you stay ahead of the game in Week 16!
NFL Week 16 RBs
As usual, I’ve included several NFL DFS RBs at different price points that have an opportunity to have productive weeks in this article. However, there are at least two other NFL DFS RBs who might have some DFS value as we get closer to Week 16’s kickoff.
There’s a chance that Alvin Kamara (groin) might not play against the Green Bay Packers this week. Kendre Miller ($5300 DK/$6100 FD) would likely be the New Orleans Saints’ lead back if Kamara is unavailable. Miller had nine carries for 46 yards last week, averaging 5.1 YPC in Week 15. Miller would have a pretty good matchup in Week 16 since the Packers have given up 13 total TDs to NFL DFS RBs this season.
Las Vegas Raiders NFL DFS RBs have a good matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 16. Sincere McCormick, who had taken over as the team’s lead back, suffered an ankle injury in Week 15 and was placed on the IR. The Jaguars have given up the fifth most receptions to NFL DFS RBs (73) this season which makes Ameer Abdullah ($4600 DK/$5100 FD) a potential NFL DFS value play.
He caught seven passes for 58 yards and scored a receiving TD last week. Alexander Mattison will likely get the bulk of the early down work for the Raiders in Week 16, but Abdullah is still an intriguing NFL DFS option as the team’s passing down back.
There are several other NFL DFS RBs that you should consider using in your NFL DFS lineups this week. These are a few of my favorites and I hope that by the end of Week 16 they’ll be your favorites as well.
NFL DFS RB Top-Tier Picks For Week 16
Bijan Robinson, RB Atlanta Falcons - DraftKings: $8,100 | FanDuel: $8,900
I have to admit that I was shocked that the New York Giants were able to keep Derrick Henry out of the end zone in Week 15. That also came a week after they kept Alvin Kamara in check. However, I think the Giants are going to get stomped by Robinson in Week 16. With the Falcons benching QB Kirk Cousins and starting rookie QB Michael Penix, they will likely be relying heavily on their NFL DFS RBs against the Giants.
Robinson has been averaging just over 23 carries per game over the past three weeks. Look for that type of usage to continue but also look for him to be heavily used in the Falcons’ passing game with Penix Jr. seeking a safety valve and checking down if he gets in trouble.
Josh Jacobs, RB Green Bay Packers - DraftKings: $7,600 | FanDuel: $8,300
Jacobs has a favorable home matchup against the New Orleans Saints in Week 16. The Saints are giving up 4.86 YPC and the second most rushing TDs (14) to NFL DFS RBs this season. Jacobs loves playing in Green Bay and is averaging 4.53 YPC in home games compared to just 4.14 YPC in road games.
The only team that runs the ball more than the Packers this season is the Philadelphia Eagles. With Jacobs scoring at least one TD in five straight games (9 total TDs in that stretch) look for them to continue to make Jacobs a big part of their offense in Week 16.
NFL DFS RB Mid-Tier Picks For Week 16
James Conner, RB Arizona Cardinals - DraftKings: $7,100 | FanDuel: $8,400
Conner has a very good matchup against the Carolina Panthers who continue to be a run defense that NFL DFS RBs have decimated this season. Last week, they gave up 149 rushing yards to Cowboys NFL DFS RB Rico Dowdle.
At a time of the season when some NFL DFS RBs are slowing down Conner has actually picked up the pace lately. Conner is averaging 5.25 YPC and four catches over his last three games.
James Cook, RB Buffalo Bills - DraftKings: $7,000 | FanDuel: $8,700
Cook is coming off a big game against a tough Detroit Lions run defense. In Week 16 things get a little easier for him as he faces a New England Patriots run defense that has given up the fourth most rushing TDs (12) to NFL DFS RBs this season.
Cook has been “cooking with oil” lately, scoring nine TDs and averaging 5.14 YPC in his last eight games.
NFL DFS RB Value Picks For Week 16
Chuba Hubbard, RB Carolina Panthers - DraftKings: $6,800 | FanDuel: $7,100
Hubbard owes us a big week after falling flat in Week 15. He has a good opportunity to bounce back against the Arizona Cardinals who are giving up 4.59 YPC to NFL DFS RBs this season.
With Hubbard having caught four passes in each of his last two games he should also be able to take advantage of the fact that the Cards have given up the seventh most receptions to NFL DFS RBs this season. I especially like Hubbard’s salary on the FanDuel platform.
Aaron Jones, RB Minnesota Vikings - DraftKings: $6,400 | FanDuel: $7,500
Thankfully, Jones Sr. seems to have put the fumbling issues that plagued him in Weeks 12 and 13 behind him and instead he’s turned his attention to being a very productive NFL DFS RB over his last four games.
During that time frame he has four total TDs and is averaging 4.95 YPC. He has a good matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, who have been better against the run lately, but have given up 11 total TDs and 4.77 YPC to NFL DFS RBs this season.
NFL DFS RB Fades For Week 16
Najee Harris, RB Pittsburgh Steelers - DraftKings: $5,700 | FanDuel: $6,600
Harris’ DFS salaries make him look like a bargain, but he has a very tough matchup against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 16. The Ravens have given up the second fewest rushing yards (893) to NFL DFS RBs this season.
It’s a tough matchup for the Steelers overall, and they may end up having to utilize their passing offense more than usual this week. That would mean that Jaylen Warren, who is the Steelers’ passing down back, might have a larger role in Week 16 than Harris.
NFL Week 16 RB Play Of The Week
Jahmyr Gibbs, RB Detroit Lions - DraftKings: $7,500 | FanDuel: $8,300
With David Montgomery suffering a season ending MCL tear Gibbs will be an even more dominating NFL DFS RB moving forward. He has a great matchup against the Chicago Bears who’ve given up the third most rushing yards (614) and the most rushing TDs (7) to NFL DFS RBs over the past five weeks.
Gibbs averaged 9.67 YPC against the Bears on Thanksgiving Day and with the Lions aware that QB Jared Goff’s production drops off when he plays outdoors, they’ll probably turn to Gibbs even more in frigid Soldier Field on Sunday.
