NFL DFS Week 2 of the season may have kicked off on Thursday with the Bills taking on the Dolphins but when it comes to DFS NFL picks, we all know the Sunday main slate featured Week 2 DFS slate on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Week 1 was a successful venture, and I know that NFL DFS Week 2 is going to be just as good for all of the Fantasy Alarm members.

Our featured cover player last week Alvin Kamara did not let us down as he torched the Carolina Panthers for 110 total yards, five catches and a rushing touchdown.

Our core example lineups cashed, and the playbook was littered with top NFL DFS projections like Anthony Richardson, Jayden Daniels, Joe Mixon, Alvin Kamara, Tyreek Hill, Mike Evans, Stefon Diggs, Chris Godwin, Kyle Pitts and the Dallas Cowboys defense.

While you check out this NFL DFS Week 2 Playbook, make sure you are also taking in our top tier DFS content which you can find linked at the bottom of this page!

NFL Week 2 DFS Picks & Preview For DraftKings & FanDuel: Sunday, 9/15

NFL DFS Week 2 has some fun matchups for us to target and Howard Bender and I go over the entire DraftKings main slate, breaking down each position and building an example lineup at the end of the show so make sure you check this out while building your DFS lineups this weekend.

The key matchups and NFL DFS projections to take advantage of in Week 2 are highlighted by Jayden Daniels against the New York Giants, Derrick Henry against the Las Vegas Raiders, Cooper Kupp against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Chris Godwin against the Detroit Lions, Brock Bowers against the Baltimore Ravens and the New England Patriots defense against the Seattle Seahawks

NFL Weather: Week 2 DFS Impact

There is some wet weather possible for Sunday in a few spots but nothing that should impact NFL DFS Week 2 as of now.

Of course, this can always change as we get closer to roster lock but for now monitor the following matchups and their forecast:

NFL Injuries: What To Know For Week 2 DFS

We have a couple of big names we are watching here on the injury report for NFL DFS Week 2. Make sure you are checking out the Fantasy Alarm NFL Injury Report from James Grande for all the latest news and notes before making any DFS NFL picks, but here is a quick rundown at what we are looking at:

  • Christian McCaffrey, RB 49ers - Honestly, who knows? Kyle Shanahan is a known liar, but CMC has logged limited practices each of the last two days and while we don't expect him to play, we probably will not know until inactive actually come out.

  • Kenneth Walker, RB Seahawks - Missed back-to-back practices and a third missed practice on Friday would more than likely rule him out for Sunday's road matchup against the New England Patriots.

  • Tee Higgins, WR Bengals - Hasn't practiced due to the hamstring injury and is likely being ruled out.

  • Jordan Addison, WR Vikings - Was injured in Week 1 and has missed back-to-back practices. Friday's practice will tell the story here.

  • Josh Downs, WR Colts - Has logged limited practices this week, could see him return in Week 2.

  • Jake Ferguson, TE Cowboys - Suffered a knee injury in Week 1 and hasn't practice. All but certain to be ruled out.

  • Keenan Allen & Rome Odunze, WR Bears - Both have missed practice this week and are on the injury report ahead of Sunday Night Football.

QBPatrick MahomesCIN @ KC Sun 4:2570008700

The Bengals team did not look ready for Week 1 and now in Week 2 they have to go on the road to face the Chiefs and Mahomes. This is feeling like a game where Mahomes could throw 2-to-3 early touchdowns while Kansas City runs away with it and that is why I'd be looking to lock him into my cash game lineups.

Game Type: CASH
Weather: Partly sunny
QBAnthony RichardsonIND @ GB Sun 1:0068008500

I've seen some worried that because the Packers just played Jalen Hurts and the Eagles that they would be ready for the Anthony Richardson and a similar style of offense as if the Packers didn't get gashed by that Eagles team.

Yes, Richardson left a few big plays on the field in Week 2, missing AD Mitchell twice on what could have been scoring plays but he also threw two touchdowns while running for another.

In the three games where he has played start-to-finish in his career he has put up 21, 27 and 30 fantasy points.

Game Type: GPP
Weather: Sunny
QBC.J. StroudCHI @ HOU Sun 8:208200

FanDuel includes the Sunday Night Football game and Stroud should be in a great spot, at home, against the Bears here. In Week 1 Stroud looked good, connecting with Stefon Diggs for two touchdowns while spreading the ball around the field.

Game Type: CASH & GPP
Weather: Partly sunny
QBJared GoffTB @ DET Sun 1:0064007800

The matchup between the Lions and Buccaneers has a slate high 51.5 game total. The Buccaneers defense looked better against the pass last week because Jayden Daniels isn't someone we are expecting to make plays with his arm.

This week however is going to be different and I envision Goff picking them apart with his playmaking receivers.

I like him in cash games but he also makes sense if you are stacking his game in GPPs.

Game Type: CASH & GPP
Weather: Sunny
QBJayden DanielsNYG @ WAS Sun 1:0062007900

Speaking of Jayden Daniels, this is the naked QB play of the week. Sure, you can see if he can hit Terry McLaurin this week against the Giants but we saw the Millimaker winner last week use Josh Allen by himself and Daniels last week ran for 80+ yards and two touchdowns. Why look to stack a WR with a QB we think will only throw for 200-yards when the rushing upside is what really carries his value.

Game Type: GPP
Weather: Mostly cloudy
QBBaker MayfieldTB @ DET Sun 1:0059007400

Listen, I spent years talking about how bad of a QB Baker Mayfield was and that's because he was a BAD QB.

However, things have changed since he went to the Buccaneers and likely because having Mike Evans and Chris Godwin to throw the football is likely to produce more good than bad outcomes.

My LONE worry here is the Lions pass rush causing Mayfield to turn the football over but if he can get enough time in the pocket to make plays he should pick apart this bad Lions secondary.

Game Type: GPP
Weather: Sunny
RBJonathan TaylorIND @ GB Sun 1:0077008200

We saw what Saquon Barkley did to this defense last week right? I'm expecting a heavy dose of the running game this week against Green Bay and while Richardson is as likely to steal touchdowns away as any QB in the league, I can also see this being a game where the Colts are playing with the lead and Taylor is just running out the clock and grinding out yardage.

Game Type: CASH & GPP
Weather: Sunny
RBJoe MixonCHI @ HOU Sun 8:208100

Mixon was an absolute beast in Week 1 and I was very happy to have him in our example lineups and playbook. In Week 2 you can only play him on FanDuel as they include the late slate but there is no reason not to expect another big game here against the Bears defense.

Game Type: CASH & GPP
Weather: Partly sunny
RBAlvin KamaraNO @ DAL Sun 1:0070007800

The Week 1 playbook cover athlete did not disappoint as he showed the rushing upside we expected to see with Kubiak as the offensive coordinator and he remained involved in the passing game. Plenty to like here for Kamara, especially if this game ends up being more competitive.

Game Type: GPP
Weather: Sunny
RBDerrick HenryLV @ BAL Sun 1:0067007500

My favorite play of the slate. He is on the cover for a reason and he will be in all of my example lineups this week.

The Raiders travel in to Baltimore here in Week 2 after allowing JK Dobbins to torch them on the ground in Week 1.

With the Ravens big home favorites here I'm expecting a heavy workload from Henry, especially after Lamar Jackson missed practice this week due to general soreness after he ran for over 100-yards in Week 1.

Game Type: CASH & GPP
Weather: Mostly cloudy
RBJames ConnerLA @ ARI Sun 4:0564006500

James Conner is just a wildly underrated running back. He was elite last season with Kyler Murray and in Week 1 he did not let us down. He is great in all three phases of the offense with his ability to catch the football and score when in the red zone.

Game Type: CASH & GPP
Weather: Mostly sunny
RBRhamondre StevensonSEA @ NE Sun 1:0062006900

Biggest shock of Week 1 was most certainly the Patriots going into Cincinnati and pulling off the upset. They were able to win that game due to smothering defense and a bully style running game which saw Stevenson finish with 25 carries for 120 yards and a touchdown while adding three receptions. If this is how the Patriots plan to play football this year then Stevenson is going to be a very good DFS play each week.

Game Type: CASH
Weather: Sunny
RBJ.K. DobbinsLAC @ CAR Sun 1:0054006800

How long can he stay healthy?  After suffering major season ending injuries each of the last two years  we saw Dobbins break off some big runs against the Raiders in Week 1. He doesn't have the same breakaway speed as he once had but he looked a lot better than Gus Edwards and now has a very favorable matchup against the Carolina Panthers.

Game Type: GPP
Weather: Light rain
RBJordan MasonSF @ MIN Sun 1:0052005500

So, we were all shocked to see the news that Christian McCaffrey was going to be ruled out for Week 1. In his place started Jordan Mason and all he did was carry the ball 28 times for 147 yards and a touchdown.

Now, CMC has logged limited practices this week and until the official inactive are released we will not know if he is going to play or not.

Obviously if CMC is out we should be going right back to the Mason well.

Game Type: CASH & GPP
Weather: Mostly cloudy
WRCeeDee LambNO @ DAL Sun 1:0088009100

It wasn't the best matchup in Week 1 as Dallas had to begin the year on the road against a good Browns defense.

Week 2 is not the same as Dallas is home and facing a Saints defense that is certainly exploitable, especially if Marshon Lattimore is not able to suit up.

Lamb got 10 targets in Week 1 and while we would have liked to see better production, 10 targets mean 10 opportunities to make big plays and I envision a big play or two coming this week.

Game Type: CASH & GPP
Weather: Sunny
WRCooper KuppLA @ ARI Sun 4:0576007700

Umm…..21 targets……Cooper Kupp looked like the guy who set the NFL record three seasons ago and the Puka Nacua injury most definitely facilitated the offense focusing on getting the ball to Kupp. The Cardinals do not have a great defense and as long as Kupp is healthy we need to be getting exposure. I mean….we are talking about 21 targets.

Game Type: CASH & GPP
Weather: Mostly sunny
WRMike EvansTB @ DET Sun 1:0075008000

We couldn't have been more “all-in” on Tampa Bay last week. The Commanders secondary is horrific and Mike Evans rewarded us with two touchdown receptions.

In Week 2 the Bucs going on the road to face a Lions defense that has a good pass rush, a good run defense, but a really bad pass defense as evidenced by what we saw from the Rams in Week 1.

As long as Baker Mayfield can get time in the pocket, Evans should be in a spot to make some big plays downfield.

Game Type: GPP
Weather: Sunny
WRGarrett WilsonNYJ @ TEN Sun 1:0071008100

The outcome isn't what Jets fans wanted with Aaron Rodgers first full game but if you are a Garrett Wilson fan you have to love seeing the number of targets he got.

Now add in a much better matchup against the Titans and I'm predicting a Garrett Wilson touchdown this week.

Game Type: CASH
Weather: Sunny
WRStefon DiggsCHI @ HOU Sun 8:207500

Another FanDuel only play. He had two touchdowns in Week 1 and C.J. Stroud is going to continue to look for him in the red zone week-in-week-out.

Game Type: CASH
Weather: Partly sunny
WRDeebo SamuelSF @ MIN Sun 1:0068007300

IF CMC is out the upside for Samuel is that much greater as it means he will also line up in the backfield as a running back when Jordan Mason needs a break.

Samuel, of course, is also a playmaker at wide receiver and I'm liking this matchup against the Vikings.

Game Type: GPP
Weather: Mostly cloudy
WRRashee RiceCIN @ KC Sun 4:2567006900

While everyone was oohing and ahhing over Xavier Worthy, Rice led the team with seven catches on nine targets for 103 yards. He is the top receiver in this offense and while, yes, Worthy and Kelce are going to make plays. I expect Rice to be the top guy in Kansas City this season.

Game Type: CASH & GPP
Weather: Partly sunny
WRChris GodwinTB @ DET Sun 1:0060006200

Much like Mike Evans, we loved us some Chris Godwin going into Week 1 and he finished with eight catches for 83 yards and a touchdown.

Godwin moving back into the slot is going to be a huge thing for him this season and in Week 2 he faces a Lions defense that just allowed Cooper Kupp 14 catches on 21 targets for 110 yards and a touchdown.

Game Type: CASH
Weather: Sunny
WRMalik NabersNYG @ WAS Sun 1:0059006400

For as bad as Daniel Jones was in Week 1, Nabers had a respectable rookie debut. In Week 2 the matchup is pretty elite as the Commanders pass defense might actually be the worst in the NFL. I think we see Nabers with his first career touchdown here this week.

Game Type: GPP
Weather: Mostly cloudy
WRBrandin CooksNO @ DAL Sun 1:0056005600

Yes, kind of a boring play but Cooks scored a touchdown and had seven targets in Week 1.

Another reason to be higher on the Cowboys receivers this week is the fact that Jake Ferguson is unlikely to play.

Take Ferguson off the field and Dak Prescott's safety net is gone and maybe he looks to the veteran wide receiver here to pick up the slack.

Game Type: CASH
Weather: Sunny
WRJameson WilliamsTB @ DET Sun 1:0053005700

Nobody was smiling wider than me after Williams' Week 1 performance. I've been talking him up since he was drafted as a guy that can be an explosive playmaker if he could just get some time to develop.

Reports this offseason were that he was rededicated to staying healthy and that the team was working to develop him into a complete receiver and not just a guy who runs straight downfield.

He has elite speed and I'm expecting the Lions to take some shots against this untested Buccaneers secondary.

Game Type: GPP
Weather: Sunny
WRRashid ShaheedNO @ DAL Sun 1:0046005500

He was in the DFS Dart Board last week and he hit the home run we were looking for. With that, he gets upgraded to the playbook but the analysis around him does not change.

Shaheed is the big play guy on this Saints offense and we love that he saw almost 70% of the offensive snaps as it solidifies him as the number two receiver next to Chris Olave.

Game Type: GPP
Weather: Sunny
WRDemarcus RobinsonLA @ ARI Sun 4:0540005200

With Puka Nacua out we look at Robinson to pick up the slack. He was great at the end of last season for the Rams and he resigned this offseason. He now gets to step in for Puka Nacua where he will be a top two target in this offense.

Game Type: CASH & GPP
Weather: Mostly sunny
TETrey McBrideLA @ ARI Sun 4:0560006200

The production wasn't the best but he still got nine targets in the Cardinals matchup against the Bills.

With a home game here against the Rams I still see McBride being a primary focal point of the teams passing attack this week.

Game Type: GPP
Weather: Mostly sunny
TEMark AndrewsLV @ BAL Sun 1:0050006800

The biggest question of the week has been whether to play Mark Andrews or Isaiah Likely.

For me, I'm playing Andrews in my cash game lineups and Likely in my GPP lineups.

The Ravens played a lot of two-TE sets but we saw the Chiefs really focus on taking Andrews away. With Likely popping off we know teams will likely over-correct and that should leave Andrews available to make more plays.

Game Type: CASH
Weather: Mostly cloudy
TEIsaiah LikelyLV @ BAL Sun 1:0048005800

That said, we absolutely can not ignore the fact that the Ravens used Likely as a wide receiver at times and played a lot of two-TE sets which means he will be on the field. He is a matchup problem for defense because of his size and speed relative to the safety's and linebackers that are in coverage on him.

Game Type: GPP
Weather: Mostly cloudy
TEBrock BowersLV @ BAL Sun 1:0044005300

He came into this season with all the hype in the world as he's considered the best tight end prospect to come into the league in a very long time.

Bowers immediately made an impact, catching six of eight targets for 58 yards.

If Minshew is comfortable throwing him the football, he is going to be making plays in the middle of the field for this team.

Game Type: GPP
Weather: Mostly cloudy
TEColby ParkinsonLA @ ARI Sun 4:0531004800

There was some sleeper hype around Parkinson entering the year and the injury to Puka Nacua put a bit more shine on him as he finished with four receptions on five targets for 47 yards. These numbers won't blow you out of the water but at his price tag, we would definitely take a repeat performance.

Game Type: CASH & GPP
Weather: Mostly sunny
DSTNew York JetsNYJ @ TEN Sun 1:0038005000

The Jets defense was not good in Week 1 as they let the 49ers run all over them but the Titans and Will Levis are not the 49ers. I'd expect a bounce back performance here and some plays to be made this week.

Game Type: CASH
Weather: Sunny
DSTLos Angeles ChargersLAC @ CAR Sun 1:0034004400

DSTKansas City ChiefsCIN @ KC Sun 4:2532004300

DSTNew England PatriotsSEA @ NE Sun 1:0028003400

While yes, I'm playing a few of the defenses above in lineups this week I'm also very confidently saying that I will be playing the Patriots defense in a lot of lineups this weekend as well.

Not only did their defense torment the Bengals in Week 1 but the Seahawks offense only had one thing working in their Week 1 matchup against the Broncos and that was running the ball with Kenneth Walker and he might not even be able to play.

Give me the Patriots, at home, at a very nice price.

There was some sleeper hype around Parkinson entering the year and the injury to Puka Nacua put a bit more shine on him as he finished with four receptions on five targets for 47 yards. These numbers won't blow you out of the water but at his price tag, we would definitely take a repeat performance.

The Jets defense was not good in Week 1 as they let the 49ers run all over them but the Titans and Will Levis are not the 49ers. I'd expect a bounce back performance here and some plays to be made this week.

We all saw how bad the Panthers were last week right? Sure, they are home and yes the Chargers are traveling across the country but I just don't see how Carolina vastly improves their play.

The Patriots pass rush got after Joe Burrow and their secondary made plays.

Chris Jones has to be licking his chops for his shot to get after Burrow here in Week 2 and I really like this Kansas City defense at home here this week.

The Bears offense looked awful and now both Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze are missing practices.

The Texans could be teeing off here in their Week 2 primetime home debut.

Can Deshaun Watson actually still play QB in the NFL? I'm willing to bet that answer is no with the Jaguars defense at home in Week 2.
