NFL Injury Report 2024 Ahead Of Sunday's Week 4 Games: Chris Olave, More

Even after I was granted a wish and asked the injury fairy to slow down the fantasy football injuries across the league, my wish was denied. If anything, more and more star players continue to be added to the NFL Injury Report in Week 4.
NFL Injury Report Ahead of Sunday's Week 4 Games: Fantasy Football Injuries
I mean heck, Chris Olave hurt himself on Friday, which is the final practice day of the week for teams playing on Sunday, and when the final injury report is released. Let’s dive into everything we’re monitoring for fantasy football injuries in Week 4.
NFL Week 4 Injury Report: Quarterbacks
Justin Herbert Injury Update - Ankle
Justin Herbert, who is dealing with a high-ankle sprain, was limited at practice during practice all week and is listed as questionable heading into their Week 4 matchup against their division rival Chiefs. Herbert’s the biggest quarterback listed on NFL Injury Report Week 4.
Jordan Love Injury Update - Knee
For a third straight day, Jordan Love hit the practice field in a limited capacity. ESPN’s Adam Schefter mentioned on Pat McAfee’s show on Friday that it’s likely going to be Jordan Love starting for the Packers in Week 4, but Green Bay needs to see how Love’s knee is going to respond to a week of practice first.
Russell Wilson Injury Update - Calf
Russell Wilson logged a third straight practice on Friday in a limited fashion and has officially been listed as questionable. Even if he was active, he’d likely be a backup to Justin Fields considering Fields has gotten the Steelers out to a 3-0 start.
Skylar Thompson Injury Update - Ribs
With each passing day, it’s evident that it’d be a long shot to think Skylar Thompson is going to play here. A report from David Furones, a beat reporter from the Sun Sentinel, says Thompson’s having trouble simply jogging around the football field, let alone playing football.
NFL Week 4 Injury Report: Running Backs
Christian McCaffrey Injury Update - Achilles
McCaffrey has returned from Germany and is now in recovery mode. It’ll take four to six weeks to get the inflammation down and then the ramp-up period will begin. That’s a pretty lengthy timeline and we might not see Christian McCaffrey until after the 49ers bye week in Week 9.
Alvin Kamara Injury Update - Ribs/Hip
Despite popping up on the injury report earlier in the week, Alvin Kamara has logged back-to-back practices in a limited fashion and is listed as questionable for Week 4. The expectation is that he’ll play, but he has been hit with a questionable tag. Jamaal Williams will operate as the lead back if Kamara can’t go.
Kenneth Walker II Injury Update - Oblique
The Seahawks had a walkthrough on Friday, so per their injury report, the estimated status of Kenneth Walker II would have been limited. He did, however, practice yesterday on a limited basis. Seattle having one extra day of the work week because they play on Monday helps Walker a bit, but he still has an uphill battle before he gets on the field.
Jerome Ford Injury Update - Knee
After practicing on Thursday, head coach Kevin Stefanski told the media that Jerome Ford looked good and would practice again on Friday. All indications are Ford is ready to go in Week 4 as he’s not listed on the teams final injury report.
Raheem Mostert Injury Update - Chest
We’ve seen Raheem Mostert log consecutive practices on a limited basis this week and is trending in the right direction for Monday Night Football. That being said, Mostert himself said it’s about pain tolerance and if there’s an ability to wear extra padding he’s going to.
Bucky Irving Injury Update - Hamstring
After being a new addition to the injury report this week, Bucky Irving said he was good and would suit up in Week 4. He was seen doing football drills at practice on Friday and did not look limited at all. He should be ready to roll in Week 4, potentially as the team's starting running back.
Joe Mixon Injury Update - Ankle
There is good news on the Joe Mixon front as he returned to practice on Friday for the first time since spraining his ankle. The Texans outright ruled Tank Dell and Dameon Pierce out already, so they must feel like Mixon has improved enough to potentially have him available in Week 4. If he plays, he’ll be in for a massive workload considering Pierce is out too.
Dameon Pierce Injury Update - Hamstring
The Houston Texans have officially ruled Dameon Pierce out for their Week 4 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Jaylen Warren Injury Update - Knee
After not practicing all week due to a knee injury, the Steelers have officially ruled out Jaylen Warren for their Week 4 game against the Indianapolis Colts due to a knee injury.
Austin Ekeler Injury Update - Concussion
The Washington Commanders have officially ruled out Austin Ekeler for their Week 4 game against the Arizona Cardinals due to a concussion per Adam Schefter.
NFL Week 4 Injury Report: Wide Receivers
Malik Nabers Injury Update - Concussion
After another monster outing, Malik Nabers left Thursday Night Football with an apparent injury that was reported near the end of the game that it was a concussion. Nabers will have a few extra days to heal considering it was Thursday they played on. They play in Seattle for their Week 5 matchup. Nabers posted on his Instagram on Friday morning that he was doing good.
A.J. Brown Injury Update - Hamstring
For the first time this week and for the first time since injuring his hamstring, AJ Brown was seen practicing on Friday. The Eagles have listed him as questionable for Week 4, which is seemingly an upgrade from where his status stood heading into last weekend.
DeVonta Smith Injury Update - Concussion
The Philadelphia Eagles have officially ruled DeVonta Smith out for their Week 4 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a concussion.
Deebo Samuel Injury Update - Calf
Head coach Kyle Shanahan provided an update on Deebo Samuel and the fact that he’s not ruled out is a good sign, or least it’s giving him a chance to play on Sunday. Samuel has practiced for two straight days to end the practice week.
Davante Adams Injury Update - Hamstring
The Las Vegas Raiders have officially ruled Davante Adams out for their Week 4 game against the Cleveland Browns due to a pulled hamstring.
Chris Olave Injury Update - Hamstring
It was a concerning practice for the Saints' top receiver, Chris Olave, on Friday considering he tweaked his hamstring and is now considered “day-to-day.” He has officially been listed as questionable by the Saints.
Marvin Harrison Injury Update - Quadriceps
After popping up on the injury report late in the week, Marvin Harrison isn’t even listed on the team’s final report and is ready to go for Week 4.
Tank Dell Injury Update - Chest
The Houston Texans have officially ruled Tank Dell out for their Week 4 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Keenan Allen Injury Update - Heel
After practicing in full capacity on Friday, it’s expected that Keenan Allen will play in Week 4. He talked with the media on Friday and outlined the entire process since the heel began hurting until now.
Jordan Addison Injury Update - Ankle
According to the NFL’s Tom Pelissero, Jordan Addison is off the Vikings' final injury report and will play in Week 4 as he’s fully recovered from a sprained ankle.
NFL Week 4 Injury Report: Tight Ends
Sam LaPorta Injury Update - Ankle
After practicing in a limited fashion for the first day of the week, Sam LaPorta was a full participant on Friday and should be ready to go for the Lions Week 4 contest barring any setbacks.
Trey McBride Injury Update - Concussion
The Arizona Cardinals have officially ruled McBride out for their Week 4 game against the Washington Commanders due to a concussion.
George Kittle Injury Update - Hamstring
No need to worry; George Kittle is back. The 49ers star tight end has no injury designation heading into the 49ers Week 4 matchup against the Patriots.
David Njoku Injury Update - Ankle
David Njoku was able to practice on Thursday but didn’t practice on Friday and when talking with the media, head coach Kevin Stefanski ruled Njoku out due to his sprained ankle.
Evan Engram Injury Update - Hamstring
Head coach Doug Pederson started the day by saying it was doubtful that Evan Engram would play and later on Friday he officially ruled him out. He did leave the door open about Week 5, however, saying that he has a good chance playing then.
Player News
Packers signed WR Bo Melton, RB Emanuel Wilson, and P Daniel Whelan to their exclusive rights free agent tenders.
Melton caught on with the Packers in 2023, totaling 16 receptions for 218 yards and a touchdown in five games. He added eight receptions for 91 yards in 17 games last season. Melton will continue to be a depth piece in an already-deep Packers wide receiver room. Wilson has also been with the Packers for two seasons and rushed for 502 yards and four touchdowns as Josh Jacobs’ immediate backup last season. He will compete with MarShawn Lloyd for that role again. Whelan is the team’s punter and will be back for 2025. All three signed their exclusive rights free agent tender and will essentially be on one-year contracts this season.
Seahawks re-signed Johnathan Hankins to a one-year contract.
Hankins hasn’t had a PFF run defense grade above 52.4 since 2020 and is primarily called on to play early downs. He turned 33 in March. He’ll be a complimentary piece behind Jarran Reed and Byron Murphy II if he makes the roster out of training camp.
Chargers placed the UFA tender on RB J.K. Dobbins.
This gives the Chargers exclusive negotiating rights if he does not sign with a team by July 22 or the first 2025 NFL training camp opens, whichever comes first. The tag is mainly useful for compensatory pick reasons as Dobbins will still count towards Los Angeles’ haul in the formula if signed before then. The Chargers currently do not project to add a pick in 2026 per Over The Cap’s Nick Korte.
49ers signed OT D.J. Humphries.
Humphries played in only two games for the Chiefs last year as he spent most of the season rehabbing a late 2023 torn ACL on his own. He wasn’t appreciably good in either of those games, but he was rusty and does have a history of better than that. Entering his age-32 season for the 49ers, he’ll probably be trying to win the right tackle job opposite Trent Williams in training camp.
Patriots released LS Joe Cardona.
The team selected his replacement, Julian Ashby, in the seventh round of the draft. This snapper of balls who are longer than usual is only 33, and it’s possible he picks up his career elsewhere. There aren’t too many remaining Patriots Regimes in the wild in 2025, but Nick Caserio does still run the Texans and they let Jon Weeks walk this offseason so that’s one speculative fit.
NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill said he would be “flabbergasted” if Derek Carr played for the Saints this year.
“I would have trouble understanding why you would allow that to happen, you’re trying to build a new culture, you can’t let that guy ... you just got a rookie QB, this is the example you’re going to give him,” Underhill continued. Both Underhill and Mike Triplett believe Tyler Shough will be starting for the Saints in Week 1, with Underhill saying he had “80 percent or higher odds to start 80 percent of the games this year.” Shough would be an uninspiring superflex pick, perhaps a QB3, but given how things have played out with Carr over the past months it sure doesn’t seem like the Saints have a reason to want to continue this relationship. Mickey Loomis literally asked reporters to stop asking him Carr questions at his pre-draft press conference.
