Dolphins QB Skylar Thompson (ribs) said his injury is fully healed.
Whether or not this means Thompson will return as the Dolphins’ QB2 is to be determined, but the third-year signal-caller has thrown for 187 scoreless yards on 33 pass attempts this season while taking eight sacks. With Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) likely to return in Week 8, it seems unlikely that we will see Thompson on the field any time soon.
Dolphins QB Skylar Thompson (ribs) was limited in Friday’s practice.
That’s two limited sessions for Thompson, who left in the third quarter of the Dolphins’ Week 3 loss to Seattle. We will get a cleared picture of his health when the Dolphins release their final injury report on Friday. Even if Thompson gets cleared in time for Miami’s MNF matchup with the Titans, we fully expect Tyler Huntley or Tim Boyle to be named the starter.
Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel said Skylar Thompson (ribs) is expected to practice in a limited capacity on Thursday.
McDaniel said earlier in the week that he doesn’t think Thompson will be available to play “anytime soon” after going down in Week 3 against the Seahawks. A limited practice is a good sign for Thompson, but McDaniel also said on Thursday that he has no idea who will start at quarterback between Thompson, Tim Boyle, and Tyler Huntley. McDaniel doesn’t have to make a decision until Monday night, meaning this decision could linger for a bit longer.
The Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson writes it’s “difficult to envision” Dolphins QB Skylar Thompson (chest) “being able to play anytime soon.”
Jackson also wrote that Thompson “could not dress himself” after Sunday’s game. He speculates that Tim Boyle and Tyler Huntley could be competing to start in Week 4 against the Titans. Super FLEX leagues always sound good until you’re wondering if you should pick up Tim Boyle. Huntley, who is still learning the offense, would seem on paper to be a much better play if he can nab the job.
