2024 NFL Pick Em Confidence Pools Strategy & Advice: Week 8 Predictions

As we gear up for the start of NFL Week 8, it’s time to make our picks for 2024 NFL Pick Em Confidence Pools. At least this week we are getting a legitimate game for Thursday Night Football as the 5-1 Minnesota Vikings head west to take on the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium. 

We get the return of Cooper Kupp, the possible return of T.J. Hockenson and, of course, all the Justin Jefferson we can handle. This looks like it could be a fun game to watch, and it should be an interesting one for our NFL Week 8 confidence pool picks.

It was another strong showing for the favorites last week which made it two weeks in a row. Our confidence pool advice was to land on them again as the matchups and recent NFL trends showed us that water was starting to find its own level and it seemed unlikely that we were going to get another rash of crazy upsets like we saw early in the season. 

Doing so, gave us a strong week as we went 11-4 and finished in the top 10 for the week in our pool. We did have one pivot from the original article, which was the right move, so always check in on the Sunday game picks over the weekend. Strategy wise, making your confidence pool picks for NFL Week 8 shouldn’t be much different from where you’ve been over these last two weeks. To keep it simple, your strategy for making weekly 2024 NFL Pick Em Confidence Pool picks is to make sure you are adjusting for where you are in our current standings. If you’re at the top end of the standings, stay the course. 

Another week of chalk picks hitting probably helped you solidify your place atop the leaderboard. Just keep doing what you’re doing as there is little reason to suddenly start taking too many chances with contrarian picks. Again, the best confidence pool advice I can offer you is to just maintain your process. 

I could say that maybe you lean into the chalk now a little more, but if you haven’t lost any ground and still have the overall leader in striking distance, keep in mind that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Lean into the chalk if you’re among the top 10 and if you’re near the bottom, start taking more (and bigger chances). That’s not to say you go crazy with upsets, but pick a few games that, for all intents and purposes, could go either way. Last week I tried to get a little too brazen with the Raiders but backed off well in time for everyone to make the appropriate changes. 

This week, I don’t see anything too crazy on the slate. Someone asked me if the Lions were a good survivor pool pick this week because they were actually worried the Lions might be looking past the Titans in preparation for their Week 9 game against the Packers. For me, that kind of concern is more in line with picking them to cover an 11-point spread. 

Straight up, I’m happy to lock them down for the win. With regard to games where we could see an upset, I’m more looking at the Bills traveling across the country to Seattle or the Cowboys beating a depleted 49ers team. Nothing crazy on the confidence level, but a few points here and there can go a long way.
