The first big slate of the NBA season has come and gone and we saw some massive performance from the likes of LaMelo Ball, James Harden, Alperen Sengun and many others.

We also saw NBA coaches going with deep rotations with a handful of teams like the Grizzlies, Suns and Warriors playing 11 and 12 man rotations out of the gate which is something that we as DFS players will need to start paying attention to as it will impact the minutes of the the starters in those rotations and potentially end up limiting their overall fantasy production.

We also saw a few key players leave with injuries as Brandon Miller and Immanuel Quickley both exited their respective contests.

 

 

But what about tonight? Well, tonight we have a ton of star power as Luka Doncic, Nikola Jokic, Victor Wembanyama and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander make their regular season debuts while we also see Anthony Edwards and Jayson Tatum suit up for the second time this season.

Four game slates can be a lot of fun for DFS as the player pool is just big enough to build a variety of a lineups but small enough that you still need to find the right value plays and chalk players to center your lineup around.

Before actually diving into the meat and potatoes, welcome to the NBA DFS season. If this is your first time reading our column on NBA DFS picks, I just want to welcome you and give you a few tips and tricks on what you should be looking for each night.

  • News outlets: reliable sources that give us injury news & starting lineups
  • Pace of play: who's playing fast vs. who's playing slow. Which teams get a pace up spot (more possessions) vs. pace down (less possessions)
  • Usage rates: is a percentage of how many plays that player is being used in

NBA Pre-Lock Update 

We have four games on tonight's main slate and we are not currently waiting on any major injury news which is a good thing. As always, with the NBA, injury news and lineup changes can happen at any time so make sure you stay tuned to the playbook and our NBA lineups feed in the discord for any and all updates.

NBA DFS Slate & Game Overviews

With the NBA season just kicking off we do not have a data yet for teams regarding pace of play and defensive matchups. 

The spot will typically include a chart and as we get more games under our belt we will really be able to utilize and identify the top matchups. 

The Boston Celtics are coming off a near 30-point thrashing over the New York Knicks and are 14-point road favorites here today against the Washington Wizards.

The San Antonio Spurs are 8.5-point road underdogs to the Dallas Mavericks in a game with a 229 game total.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are two-point road underdogs against the Denver Nuggets in a game with a 227.5 game total.

Our second 10pm ET start is the Minnesota Timberwolves against the Sacramento Kings where the Timberwolves are a one-point road favorite in a game with a 222 total.
