Luka Doncic accumulated 37 points (12-of-22 FGs, 8-of-9 FTs), eight rebounds, one assist, two steals and five three-pointers in 40 minutes in Saturday’s Game 1 loss to the Timberwolves.
Luka Doncic (quad) and Austin Reaves (ankle) are out for Sunday’s game against the Trail Blazers.
With the Lakers securing the third seed in the West with a win over Houston on Friday, most of their key rotation players will not play in Portland. Doncic and Reaves are sitting, freeing additional rotation minutes for Jordan Goodwin. Goodwin is considered probable for Sunday’s game, so he should be available and is worth rostering in active leagues. Bronny James may also play extended minutes due to the Lakers’ lengthy injury report.
Luka Doncic recorded 39 points (13-of-19 FGs, 8-of-14 FTs), eight rebounds, seven assists, one steal and five three-pointers in 31 minutes in Friday’s win over the Rockets.
Luka Doncic finished Wednesday’s win over the Mavericks with 45 points (16-of-28 FGs, 6-of-9 FTs), eight rebounds, six assists, four steals and seven three-pointers in 38 minutes.
While Dallas’ pregame tribute video moved Doncic to tears, he had trouble controlling his emotions once the game began. The Lakers star came out hot, scoring 31 points in the first half and ultimately finishing with one of his best lines of the season. Doncic shot over 50 percent from the field and kept the turnovers in check, making for an excellent night for the Lakers and fantasy managers in active leagues. Luka made history, becoming the second player in NBA history to score at least 45 points for and against the same team in the same season. The other was Wilt Chamberlain. The Lakers only need to win one of their final two games to lock up the three-seed in the West.
