Top Tier Core Plays
Nikola Jokic, C, Denver Nuggets
Nikol Jokic is the highest-priced player on the slate and rightfully so, with his ceiling each and every night. I am not sure I am playing him tonight though, with the massive spread of -16.5 in that one, plus there is some value at the center position tonight. However, he played just 15 minutes in the last matchup between these two teams. So he may want to give them a little extra in this one. Even if he plays just 25-30 minutes, he can still give you 60-70 fantasy points making him in play, but not my top choice.
Domantas Sabonis, Sacramento Kings
Sabonis has been on one as of late. He has scored at least 49 fantasy points in each of his last eight games. He is coming off of back-to-back triple-doubles, as he has dished out 23 assists in the last two games. You can make the case that he is a better play at the center position today than Jokic because of the game script. Sabonis also just has a solid floor each and every night because of his rebounding. He has grabbed double-digit rebounds in 17 straight games.
Trae Young, PG, Atlanta Hawks
Trae Young is coming off a clunker that he was due for after a string of great play. He shot just 4-18 from the for just 13 points. With that, his price is back under 1oK on DraftKings which makes him appealing tonight. In the lone game he played in Orlando earlier this season, Young scored 41 game points and finished with 65 fantasy points. Young should have a nice bounce-back night against Orlando in the game with the highest game total on the slate.
Devin Booker, PG/SG Phoenix Suns
Kevin Durant is questionable heading into this one with a hamstring injury. He could be back in this one, but you can play Devin Booker either way. He is just $9,100 on DraftKings which we love. He still has a 30% usage rate with him playing point guard on the season, slightly behind Kevin Durant. Bookers assist numbers give him a solid floor each and every night with him averaging just under seven assists in his last six games.
Paolo Banchero, PF, Orlando Magic
No Franz Wagner tonight for the Magic which means Paolo Banchero is the cover for the playbook. His price is just 9K on DraftKings, and he has scored over 50 fantasy points in five straight games, including a 32-10-11 triple-double in his last game. Banchero is just being extremely aggressive he got up 21 shot attempts in his last game to go along with 19 free throws. He has gotten to the free throw line double-digit times in four of his last five games. Banchero is auto-locked in my lineup today.
Mid-Tier Core Plays
Kyrie Irving PG/SG, Dallas Mavericks
In two blowout wins over Portland, Kyrie has been fantastic in playing less than 30 minutes in each. He has scored at least 51 fantasy points in back-to-back games, and it looks as if Luka could be trending in the wrong direction when it comes to his injury designation. It is a tough matchup against the Timberwolves, but if Irving is the number-one tonight, he builds a strong case to be in your lineup tonight with him sitting under 9K.
Anthony Edwards, PG/SG Minnesota Timberwolves
Anthony Edwards is another guy priced under 9K on DraftKings that seems like he should be priced closer to 10K. Edwards dominated Dallas just five games ago when he went off for 44 game points and finished with 61 fantasy points. Edwards has seen at least a 30% usage rate in eight straight games. This is Anthony Edwards' offense now, and we should continue to ride the wave in this one again a Mavericks defense that isn't good.
Bradley Beal, PG/SG Phoenix Suns
Bradley Beal is starting to look comfortable in the Suns offense as of late. His price is nice as well sitting at just $7,300 on DraftKings. At this point, we know he has a solid floor as long as he is healthy scoring over 30 fantasy points in four straight games. It took Durant needing to be out to hit a ceiling game of 48 fantasy points in his last game where he dished out nine assists and grabbed eight rebounds. If Durant is out, Beal is an auto-lock in my lineup. If Durant is in, Beal is still ok, but his ceiling does take a hit.
Immanuel Quickley, PG/SG, Toronto Raptors
Since being traded to the Toronto Raptors, Quickley is fitting in quite nicely in the starting lineup. We know one thing, and that is Quickley is an absolute bucket. He has gotten up 35 shot attempts in his last two games and has seen a 25% usage rate since coming over from the New York Knicks. Quickley has a good matchup against the Warriors, who don't seem to have a great matchup for Quickley in this one.
Tim Hardaway Jr., SG/SF, Dallas Mavericks
Hardaway is a great play if Luka Doncic is out, and will be in my lineup. he is averaging the same amount of minutes but his usage rate goes from 23% to almost 30%. His points per game go from 17 to over 22, and his fantasy points per minute go from 1.73 to 2.33. I like him much less if Luka plays because the matchup isn't a great one against the Timberwolves.
Value Tier Core Plays
Moritz Wagner, PF/C, Orlando Magic
I mentioned above that there is a lot of value at the center position tonight and that starts with Mo Wagner. Both Wendell Carter Jr. and Goga Bitadze are questionable heading into this one. If they can't suit up or are both limited Wagner is a must-play. We saw last game what he could do when he played 38 minutes and scored 43 fantasy points. Plus this is a massive pace-up spot taking the Hawks.
Jaden Hardy, PG/SG Dallas Mavericks
A lot of plays are on the back of injuries tonight which is a bit annoying, but that is DFS. Hardy went absolutely bananas against a bad Portland team in his last start with Luka being out. He scored 19 points dished out nine assists, and grabbed nine rebounds. I don't expect his numbers to look like that gain outside of his scoring, but he could still be solid in a tough matchup against the Timberwolves.
Naz Reid, PF/C, Minnesota Timberwolves
Naz Reid is just so solid as the backup big man for this Timberwolves team. he has a good matchup against the Mavericks who don't always play a traditional center. Plus Dereck Lively is also doubtful heading into this one. I could see Reid dominating on the boards with the second unit in this one giving him a 30-point + ceiling tonight.
Larry Nance Jr., C, New Orleans Pelicans
Larry Nance Is back from injury and stealing minutes from Jonas Valanciunas. He is priced at just $4,500 on DraftKings and has scored at least 20 fantasy points in five straight games. He doesnt do anything crazy but he gets over five rebounds each night and can score close to 10 game points. At his price, you will take a stat line like that, and it is a good matchup against a defense in Sacramento that isn't great.
Roster Lock News & Notes
- Markelle Fultz is active for the Magic. Wendell Carter is ruled out, and Goga Bitadze is active. Mo Wagner is still a viable play.
- Zion Williamson is ruled out.
- Luka Doncic is in for the Mavricks

Player News
Kristaps Porzingis (illness) said after Wednesday’s Game 2 loss to the Knicks that his current stamina issues may be related to the problem that sidelined him for eight games late in the regular season.
After an illness limited him to 13 first-half minutes in Boston’s series-opening defeat on Monday, Porzingis came off the bench in Game 2. Unfortunately, he could only give the Celtics 14 minutes. Following the game, Porzingis said his current problem may be related to the upper respiratory ailment that sidelined him for eight games late in the regular season. “Probably, probably,” Porzingis said. “I’ve had like ups and downs throughout until this point. Just now, had a big crash. Now, my energy, my everything, hasn’t been good, but who cares? Have to move forward and it will get better from this point.” While Boston’s shot selection was the focus following its two home defeats, Porzingis’ limited availability has also been a factor. He’ll hope to return to full health in time for Game 3 on Saturday afternoon.
Nikola Jokic finished with 17 points (6-of-16 FGs), eight rebounds, six assists, one steal, one block, two three-pointers and six turnovers in Game 2 against the Thunder on Wednesday.
This was Jokic’s worst performance of the postseason, and it came to an end in the third quarter. He fouled out with 1:17 left in the third, which brought his night to a close after he played 32 minutes. OKC was up 41 points when Jokic fouled out, so his night may have been close to over anyway. Jokic dominated Game 1, and the Thunder adjusted. Denver will need other players to step up if they want to have a chance of winning this series, but Jokic will also need to be better than he was in this game.
Michael Porter Jr. struggled on Wednesday and finished with just eight points (2-of-10 FGs), five rebounds, one steal and two three-pointers in Game 2 against the Thunder.
MPJ was slightly better in the second half, as all eight of his points came in the third quarter. However, the game was already out of hand at that point after a terrible first half for both Porter Jr. and the Nuggets. MPJ shot 1-of-8 in Game 1, and they’ll need him to be much better moving forward. The series will now shift back to Denver, and MPJ will look to get back on track during the two home games before the series heads back to Oklahoma City.
Russell Westbrook provided a boost off the bench with 19 points (5-of-11 FGs, 8-of-10 FTs), one rebound, five assists and one three-pointer in a 149-106 loss to the Thunder in Game 2 on Wednesday.
Despite an ugly first half for Denver, Westbrook was productive and entered the break with 15 points. He didn’t add much in the second half, though he sat the entire fourth quarter, still it was enough to lead the Nuggets in scoring. Russ has been awesome over Denver’s last five games, and his continued success will be key to the Nuggets winning this series. Though this game was ugly, they still have homecourt advantage in this series. They’ll look to keep it in Game 3 on Friday.
Chet Holmgren recorded a double-double on Wednesday with 15 points (3-of-8 FGs, 7-of-7 FTs), 11 rebounds, two assists, two steals, two blocks and two three-pointers in Game 2 against the Nuggets.
After struggling in Game 1, Holmgren bounced back and recorded the fourth postseason triple-double of his career, with three of those coming this season. Aside from Game 3 against Memphis, Holmgren has swatted at least two shots in every game during these playoffs, which was a trend that continued in this game despite him only playing 26 minutes. Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein (14/8/5/1/1) will look to continue to limit Nikola Jokic (17 points) in Game 3 on Friday.
Jalen Williams bounced back on Wednesday with 17 points (6-of-11 FGs), four rebounds, seven assists and two blocks in Game 2 against the Nuggets.
Williams was criticized for his poor performance in the Thunder’s Game 1 loss, but he responded well in OKC’s blowout victory. He was on pace for a bigger night, but he only played 26 minutes and sat the entire fourth quarter due to the lopsided score. He shot the ball much better after shooting 5-of-20 in Game 1, and he’ll need that success to carry over into Game 3 in Denver on Friday.
